Hello! I have two daughters [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. I’m due in [name_u]September[/name_u] and we have a boys name picked out. We need help!
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has nixed so many names that I love such as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], etc… His favorites are [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. But we haven’t used those for our first two daughters and I think there’s a reason for that.
What are your thoughts on [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]? Pronounced like [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_u]Campbell[/name_u]. I think it’s my current front runner.
I know it is traditionally pronounced like Neev, but I like the softer pronunciation and I’m okay with correcting people as people mispronounce [name_f]Margot[/name_f] all of the time.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and [name_f]Neve[/name_f]…? Thanks Berries !
Here to praise [name_f]Neve[/name_f] again! It seems like a great compromise since you like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and he likes [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. I also like the [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_u]Campbell[/name_u] pronunciation. Not sure where you’re from but I’m in the US and I believe most people would pronounce it nev.
I don’t love it but I think if a knew one it could grow on me. For me its sort of like [name_f]Elle[/name_f], it doesn’t feel like a totally complete name. It’s quite unfamiliar to me too.
[name_f]Neve[/name_f] is so cute and unexpected, but I do think the neev pronunciation fits better with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] & [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. However, the [name_u]Nev[/name_u] pronunciation is also nice, and I think you should use it if that’s what you love
Hazel and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] are such a gorgeous, glamorous, fresh, yet vintage pair! [name_f]Neve[/name_f] is not really my style, so that may influence my opinion, but it kind of pales in comparison to her sisters… Could [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] with nn [name_f]Neve[/name_f] be an option? [name_u]Or[/name_u] another longer name with [name_f]Neve[/name_f] as a nn?
Neve is one of my favorite names! It was in the top 3 for my daughter but it didn’t flow with the other name of my children so I didn’t use it. [name_f]Neve[/name_f] (I pronounce it like nehve not neev) is an uncommon name that’s unforgettable! Although the sound of [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is cute, [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is becoming a basic name and it doesn’t go well with [name_f]Neve[/name_f] type-wise. I think 2 syllable middle names are fitting so I’ll supply with some I like and that I think go well with your other daughters:
Neve [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Lynette[/name_f]
I don’t know why I’m blanking on names, [name_f]Neve[/name_f] was one of my favorites! If I think of any more, I’ll add them but [name_f]Neve[/name_f] is a wonderful name…your husband will definitely grow on it!
I think it has a sweet sound and definitely prefer the softer pronunciation, and I think it work a well with your daughters names! However it does feel incomplete me for some reason.
Thank you for the feedback!! I’m thinking because it’s so unfamiliar. I don’t feel the same way about [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], or [name_u]Blair[/name_u].
Honor names are great to include! The tone and sound of [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] doesn’t flow quite nicely…not sure how to explain but it sound flat. Also it kind of sounds like [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] in the way of tones. I’m going to try to demonstrate with slashes and underscores. Each character is a syllable. _ _ [name_f]Neve[/name_f]\ has a strong sound that “goes down?” Lau_ren_ is just “flat” it doesn’t rise or fall in tone. _ _ If this makes sense, imagine you’re on the ground. [name_f]Neve[/name_f] digs into the ground. [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] just digs forward, it doesn’t get you out of the hole. I think a name with an uprising last syllable will be better with [name_f]Neve[/name_f]. \ _ /. A name to dig you out of the hole. I doubt that made any sense…I’ve been told my imagination is hard to understand Maybe (and hear me out) [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Laurette[/name_f]? [name_f]Laurette[/name_f] does mean “little laurel” but it’s obvious how it honors [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]. Its ending syllable “rette” has that uplifted tone to “get the name out of the hole.” Also as the youngest daughter, -ette names add that petite, dainty feel. I also think [name_f]Neve[/name_f] [name_f]Laurette[/name_f] is so cute, unexpected, and special! Let us know when the name is decided! Sending my love
