New Create a Family With a Twist

[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Xiaoyi Beaumont-Wang (19) is Sebatien’s cousin. [name_m]Born[/name_m] to a white mother and Chinese father, [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] has struggled with her cultural identity for most of her life. Oddly enough, it was her mother who helped the most when it came to embracing Chinese culture— telling her there was nothing wrong with her and that regardless of how she looks, she’s always going to be part Chinese. She loves her father’s culture and wishes to go to [name_f]China[/name_f] someday.

Maybe her lack of identity is what drew [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] to makeup— she could paint over what she couldn’t make sense of and give meaning to it. Though she’s at university for organic chemistry (Lucille’s love for science rivals her love for makeup), [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] makes makeup tutorials for YouTube and TikTok, and has been enjoying the surprise from her audience that she’s actually a STEM student having fun. She has genuinely thought about pursuing makeup as a career, but she doesn’t want to turn a comfort into a job for her. She never wants to be forced to do makeup. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] has a lot of PR packages from companies, though, and gives them to her friends and family for free.

When [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] went to university, she was amazed to find people like her— a lot of the times she felt like she was the only one who had those issues, even if she knew that wasn’t true. Her core friend group, six people including her, is full of mixed people and people who grew up outside of their culture. They all bonded over the confusion and the solidarity that comes with not belonging anywhere. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] thinks she’s made a home with her friends and hopes they’ll continue to be friends for a long, long time.

[name_f]Portia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] Callaghan-Sanchez (19) is one of Lucille’s close friends who she met through university, majoring in [name_f]English[/name_f] Language and Linguistic studies. Having been adopted from Ecuador when she was ten months old, [name_f]Portia[/name_f] grew up in a household with little connection to her roots: nothing intentional on the behalf of her parents, they were just cut off entirely from their daughters’ heritage, and she was their first adopted child. Her only tie was her retaining her birth mother’s surname as part of her own, but [name_f]Portia[/name_f] nevern quite felt ready to try reaching out to uncover more about her biological family. It was in middle school when [name_f]Portia[/name_f] began trying to discover herself, and she began learning Spanish - which unlocked her interest in speech therapy a few years later, as she learned more about communication and how she compared to her peers who had been raised in bilingual households. She’s almost fluent now but doesn’t have much confidece speaking and prefers writing, having a correspondence with an online friend she’s made in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u], who’s been her biggest support in connecting with her heritage.

Lack of confidence is what influences [name_f]Portia[/name_f] a lot: she worries easily and tends to have imposter syndrome at the best of times, meaning to some classmates she seems slightly neurotic about her studies. Group projects are her absolute worst nightmare and she’s relieved to have such a strong support network in her friends, who don’t judge her for being so determined to do well, while giving her advise to minimise her anxieties. She is a very talented climber - trees, rocks, walls - and has a good head when facing heights; belonging to her universities society, and she dives for fun too - but not competitively, as [name_f]Portia[/name_f] couldn’t imagine anything worse for herself. Her parents regularly check in and she knows they feel guilty for how she was cut off from her heritage, but [name_f]Portia[/name_f] doesn’t resent them and understands they were trying their best to just help her settle and feel loved in their home. What she doesn’t miss so much is her little sister frequently borrowing her clothes without asking, as [name_f]Portia[/name_f] absolutely loves coordinating her ensembles, and having the rhythm disrupted annoys her like little else.

There’s also a pretty cute guy who comes to the smoothie bar where she works 3 shifts a week but Portia’s friends are very gentle with their teasing as they know she just wants to approach him when her anxiety isn’t at its peak.

[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Jihyun " [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] " [name_u]Kim[/name_u] (18) is part of [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and Portia’s friend group. [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] and [name_f]Portia[/name_f] relate to each other a lot: [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] was born and raised away from [name_u]South[/name_u] Korea, the only connection to her roots being her middle name and being able to speak Korean. [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] had to be the translator for her immigrant parents since she was young, and she’s soon become an expert in both languages. Other than that, [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] hasn’t been surrounded by many Korean-Americans, and wishes she could find those like her. She’s planning on studying abroad in Korea soon, and is extremely excited for it. Her parents have apologised for not going back to Korea during holidays and such, but [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] knows it was because they wanted her to focus on her studies in the states. She’s downloaded a foreign language app and has connected with fellow Koreans who want to learn [name_f]English[/name_f], and she’s befriended a boy her age.

[name_u]Kitty[/name_u] is a dance major— starting from ballet and ending up in street/urban dancing. The style she prefers is the latter: ballet gave her severe body dysmorphia and to this day she has trouble with how she looks like in mirror. Her friends at university have noticed this and are very kind to [name_u]Kitty[/name_u], often eating with her and being gentle with her in her recovery. Being a dancer also means she’s extremely hard on herself and compares herself to others, something [name_f]Portia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], and the rest of her friends are trying to stop. She knows it’s not kind to herself to do that, but [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] knows she has to improve some way or another, and is working on feeling neutral first before practising self-love. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] steps, she says, is the easiest way for her.

Kitty’s also been playing wingman and has asked the boy from the smoothie bar if he thought [name_f]Portia[/name_f] was cute, pretending to not know her. He said “yes”, so [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] has given [name_f]Portia[/name_f] the signal that she can go ahead and talk to him.

TW: eating disorders

Ailbhe Sinead Griffin (18) is one of Ivy’s aunts, the younger sister of Ferelith and a close friend of Kitty. The pair’s closeness stems from their mutual struggles with their relationships with food, Ailbhe having first developed bulimia in reaction to the toxic home environment that slowly became more and more overbearing as she grew up; piquing when Ferelith’s expression of bun’s gender identity caused the Griffin’s to react by tightening their control on Ailbhe as a means of coping. Their biggest concern with her struggle was hiding it from anyone who they looked up to, barely permitting their younger child to attend a support group, and monitoring what she said there obsessively.

What they underestimated though, was Ailbhe’s ability to be proactive, especially as she came to desire to break away more and more. With the help of Kitty, who she didn’t fully open up to until they met in person (as Ailbhe hates the idea of burdening anyone, something her current therapist attributes to her parents obsession with their narrow-minded view on ‘normality’ and how they projected it onto both her and Ferelith in different ways), she applied for university in America; albeit not the same one Kitty, Lucille and Portia are attending - as Ailbhe based her application on most affordable accommodation - but an hour away on the train, so she hangs out with their group whenever she has a spare moment on her fashion communications course.

The Griffin’s were so eager to escape any kind of social judgment, they happily accepted the idea of Ailbhe studying abroad, although it was hard for her to be apart from Ferelith - who she’d managed to secretly maintain a relationship with (as being as quiet as she is, Ailbhe rebelling is something her parents never considered). Her parents did subsequently learn all she’d been up to and promptly disowned Ailbhe, after threats about somehow ending her scholarship failed to drag her back to them; but she’s managed to come to terms with things, knowing it’s for the best in the long run that all contact is cut off. Like Kitty, Ailbhe’s now taking things in her life slowly, enjoying the little things like going the beach with her uni friend group, attending live music events (as one of her friend’s is in a notorious college circuit band: Mercury Poisoning) and going for hikes to clear her head.

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] “ [name_f]Molly[/name_f] “ O’Leary [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (52) is the mother of [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] and [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u]. She’s also the grandmother of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], though [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] doesn’t know her and will never know her thanks to [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]. Bun cut bun’s mother out of bun’s life a long time ago and is now living with no regrets- however [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u] is still connected with her. [name_m]Born[/name_m] into a very wealthy family, in a mansion nestled between the city of [name_u]Dublin[/name_u] and the countryside, [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and her sisters had always been taught to marry rich, and that if you’re pretty you can achieve anything- if not, you’d better scrape up all the money you can find and get plastics. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] was very conventionally pretty back when she was young and made her youngest sister feel terrible about herself- that sister cut [name_f]Molly[/name_f] out of her life completely, and is still living in [name_u]Dublin[/name_u]. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] sees her youngest sister as pathetic and doesn’t envy her at all. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] developed an ED in her youth as an attempt to “perfect herself” and she is still picky around food, and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] encourages the behaviors in her daughter [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u]. She even insults [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u] as an attempt to “motivate her” to lose a couple more pounds.

[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] was always Ailbhe’s protector in her youth, telling her she was beautiful just as she was. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] never failed to hurt [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] or [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u] and traumatized [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] too. Molly’s oldest sister came out, and is living in the Irish countryside with the woman of her life happily now, but as a young child [name_f]Molly[/name_f] tormented her too, and made her feel awful when she did come out. Molly’s second-to-youngest sister lives in [name_u]France[/name_u] as well as [name_f]Molly[/name_f], and the two are still friends despite [name_f]Molly[/name_f] being blatantly rude whenever her sister makes a mistake. Her sister has never dated a man which [name_f]Molly[/name_f] finds suspicious- her sister’s friends with [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and is planning to actually come out as well. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] would never accept her though. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] met her husband at a gala hosted by the O’Leary parents and decided that he had enough money and she could totally get him- which worked until he turned out to be terribly abusive and awful. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] stayed with him as money is her primary motive in life and it’s the only thing she cares about at this point. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and Ailbhe’s relationship could maybe be fixed but not hers with [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]- she doesn’t even know that bun has a daughter. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is way too far gone- maybe nothing can save her now.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] Xueying " [name_f]Elle[/name_f] " [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (19) is one of Margaret’s adopted nieces and an adopted cousin of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] was adopted from [name_f]China[/name_f] when she was just a couple of months old, and her parents respected her heritage by keeping her name at birth. Contrary to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], who belittled her mother in her youth and thus kept [name_f]Elle[/name_f] away from the woman, Elle’s mum was an absolute sweetheart and helped [name_f]Elle[/name_f] grow into the young lady she is now. Whilst she stays away from [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] keeps contact with her cousins, even getting the news of Ivy’s birth and adoring the baby. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] has offered to babysit if the polycule is ever busy— [name_f]Elle[/name_f] loves children and wants some of her own someday.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is also part of [name_u]Kitty[/name_u], [name_f]Portia[/name_f], and Lucille’s friend group— [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] bonded over their cloudy connection with her [name_f]Asian[/name_f] culture. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] knows [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is even more disconnected from [name_f]China[/name_f] than she is, and is currently also teaching her some Mandarin. Though [name_f]Elle[/name_f] knows she couldn’t visit [name_f]China[/name_f] when she was younger due to financial strains, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] doesn’t resent her mum at all and loves her deeply. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] has four siblings including herself, all adopted. She enjoys how diverse her home life is and happily immerses herself in her siblings’ heritages all around the world.

Other than her complicated home life and her struggles with her identity, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is glad to find her passion: she’s at university studying to become a forensic scientist. Admittedly, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] knows her career choice was partly made due to growing up around shows like CSI and the like, but she does believe she can make a difference in the world. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] despises the amount of missing people that aren’t found each year and she hopes that with her contributions to the world, that percentage might drop just a little.

[name_f]Eilis[/name_f] [name_f]Eithne[/name_f] [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (50) is Elle’s adoptive mother and Molly’s estranged sister. Given the way [name_f]Molly[/name_f] treated her children, they were no longer in contact with her and have no plans to do so and [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] makes sure [name_f]Molly[/name_f] never harasses them. She is in STEM as a physicist and loves making every day better through her knowledge of science. She also adores the periodic table of elements and finds [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] Poisoning to be a pretty epic scientific name for a band even though she doesn’t quite know their notoriety. She, [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u], and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] are close and she and her wife act like alternate parents to her and bun. She doesn’t care if her sister finds her suspicious for never dating a man, she’s in a committed relationship with her wife and support all 4 of their adoptive children. If anything is really suspicious, it’s the criminal activity behind missing and exploited people, so [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] supports and motivates [name_f]Elle[/name_f] to pursue forensic science, after all her help would make every day better. [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] loves her Irish culture but never uses it to take away from other cultures, and wants to do better with aligning her children to their culture as much as possible.

Orla Fiadh Monahan-Griffin (56) is the aunt of Ferelith, Elle and Ailbhe. She’s also the oldest sister of Molly and Eilis- she’s happy that Eilis doesn’t talk to Molly very often and stands up for Ferelith and Ailbhe. When Ferelith began to express bun’s gender, Molly shunned her and said “that’s ridiculous, you were born a woman and always will be.” Orla was infuriated- her wife is AMAB and she’s disgusted with her little sister’s behaviour. When Orla heard of Ailbhe’s relationship with food and her ED, she was also horrified at how awful Molly could be- she’s living in a rural community with her wife and tries to only go to France to see Eilis and always tiptoes around Molly, trying not to approach her. When they were all growing up, Orla, like Ferelith, would always protect Eilis and her youngest sister from their evil parents and Molly- deep down Orla loves Molly but she hates her behaviour.

Orla loves all of Eilis’ children and often spoils them, buying them all sorts of treats and gifts, despite Eilis and her wife protesting against it. She’s very protective of Eilis and her wife’s kids, too. Orla has a kid of her own- a daughter, who’s a mentor figure to Elle and all her other siblings. Orla is very proud of her daughter- her daughter is studying abroad, but she’s still in Europe which makes Orla very happy- after all, transcontinental flights cost more and Orla plans on visiting her daughter once a month. Whenever Molly makes a snide comment on adoption and how Eilis’ children “aren’t really family” and are just “a bunch of intruders” coming from “dirty countries,” Orla will march right up to her and give her a speech on how families come in all different sizes. Orla tries to not pick a favorite of her nieces and nephews on Eilis’ side but she probably prefers the oldest child as she reminds her of herself as a young woman.

As for Orla’s youngest little sister, she’s still angry about how the family dynamic shaped her view of herself- and still does to this day. Orla’s parents told her she was “an ugly little girl” but Orla tuned them out, as she sees her beauty and that’s enough for her. But her sister was never like her…she still believes she’s ugly and Orla resents her parents for that. She hopes the trauma can all blow over but she’s scared it never will…

He is [name_u]French[/name_u] Polynesian descent although he was born in [name_f]Bora[/name_f] [name_f]Bora[/name_f]. He is a solo singer and guitarist, known for his deep lyrics and riffs. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] never listens to his music and hates that [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] have had performances of his dedicated to them but she hasn’t, even though she knows [name_u]Alexi[/name_u] won’t ever do that. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_u]Alexi[/name_u] are cut off from each other for the most part, for the best. He supports street performers a lot and always gives tips, knowing that they aren’t well-known and often don’t have money but are willing to perform to their heart’s content to make themselves and passers-by have a little more happiness to their days.

[name_u]Alexi[/name_u] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] are both very close and like to help one another get immersed by their cultures with the help of their other siblings. [name_u]Alexi[/name_u] is almost always a happy person and a personal motivator to his family and friends, or really anyone he feels needs a “boost” of happiness and confidence. He feels Molly’s lifestyle is sad, both to herself and to the people she’s mistreated, and avoids her, just to make both of them feel better. He likes to give back to [name_f]Orla[/name_f] for buying him so many great gifts and the two are mutually generous.

Ruqayya [name_u]Noor[/name_u] “ [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] “ [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (22) is one of [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] and her wife’s adopted children. She loves listening to her brother play guitar, despite not being musically inclined or talented at all, she thinks [name_u]Alexi[/name_u] should keep going. She’s proud of her mother for keeping minimal contact with [name_f]Molly[/name_f], as she agrees how toxic Molly’s behaviour can be. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], her siblings and cousins (including Molly’s daughters) make jokes about how [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a devil spawn and related to two women named [name_f]Trisha[/name_f] and [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f]- while [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] has no idea why this popped up or who [name_f]Trisha[/name_f] or [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] are, she thinks it’s hilarious. All the cousins are super close and even made a Facebook account- [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] Macinday’s profile popped up and while they didn’t spam him with hate, they did snicker at Molly’s comments- despite being both married and homophobic, [name_f]Molly[/name_f] made some comments on how hot [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] was- everyone thinks it’s funny, her obsession with [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] has gotten a bit out of control. (Though I will give her credit for being the appropriate age to use Facebook- [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Trisha[/name_f] are way too young to be using old people websites, sorry).

Unlike some of her siblings who don’t know their parents, [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] met hers- she lived with them until she was around six years and one month old. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] was born in [name_m]Riyadh[/name_m], to three loving parents (her dad, her mom and her dad’s other wife) and many siblings. All three of the adults in the family were involved in a horrific car accident and died with some of Ruby’s siblings and half siblings in the car! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] was devastated- her whole life came falling down, until [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] and her lovely wife adopted her and taught her some [name_u]French[/name_u]. Along with being fluent [name_u]French[/name_u] and Arabic, Ruby’s trying to learn some [name_f]English[/name_f] so she can go to her mother’s homeland of [name_u]Dublin[/name_u] and communicate with the locals. (I’m pretty sure [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] speaks [name_f]English[/name_f] and Gaelic?) Elle’s taught [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] a few Mandarin words too- they’ve taught each other all the swears just for the fun of it and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is proud to announce that she can fluently swear in Mandarin!

Ruby’s developed an interest in law, and wants to go to law school- she wants to specialize in car accidents- as the person who hit her parents got away without a scratch and still hasn’t been caught due to lack of security cameras around the area. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] has actually managed to contact her half sister who still lives in [name_m]Riyadh[/name_m], and they’ve been talking about meeting up soon- however she doesn’t discuss this with her family in [name_u]France[/name_u] as she doesn’t want to offend or hurt them. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] knows [name_u]Simone[/name_u]- the two attend the same school and despite [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] being a year younger than [name_u]Simone[/name_u] they are good friends. Simone’s younger sister from Cote d’ Ivoire came to visit recently, and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (who’s openly gay and has no trouble coming out to her moms for obvious reasons) thinks she might be interested in her…she told [name_f]Elle[/name_f], and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] thinks it’s hilarious that she likes someone- but deep down [name_f]Elle[/name_f] supports her and hopes the two can make it work- if [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] confesses…

Mireille Primrose Ouattra (22) is Simone’s younger sister and Ruby’s new crush. She currently resides in Côte d’Ivoire with most of the Ouattra family. She knows Simone lives in France and doesn’t quite know what to think of her past fling with Armand but is happy Simone is in a real and true relationship with a partner she truly loves now. Mireille secretly wants that for herself and loves coming over to visit people. She knows briefly about the car crash calamity and has supported Ruby alongside Simone’s friend Clyde, who had also been in a car accident but survived. Clyde isn’t very vocal about what happened to him and doesn’t like to talk about it, which Mireille respects, but he’ll still do it for Ruby especially since she’s trying to stop accidents like that from happening. Mireille, Simone, and Clyde can’t imagine actually dying in a car accident and finds the idea of such to be highly catastrophic.

Ruby and Mireille have had friendly and supportive conversations and Mireille is feeling some sort of attraction to Ruby but isn’t sure how to process that as she hasn’t been in a lot of relationships. She knows about Ruby’s half-sister in Riyadh and knows about Ruby’s other three siblings; Elle, Alexi, and Eilis’s eldest child whom Orla personally relates to. She barely knows about Molly but doesn’t want to get into matters too personally. She is close with Alexi and speaks French with him a lot and is also on great terms with Elle, but doesn’t quite know that Ruby is mutually attracted to her and that Elle knows this.

Felix Penrose Ouattra (20) is the little brother of Mireille and Simone. Like Mireille, he lives in Côte d’ Ivoire. He lives in Abidjan, and he’s a professional model there- though he often uses the money to visit France and see Simone. He’s met Ruby, Alexi and Elle, though he doesn’t know them personally. He’s befriended Clyde, and he feels terrible about the car crashes- both Clyde and Ruby, and he wishes he could do something to take their pain away. He’s never been in a car accident as he’s never driven- he’s too scared, and if you have severe anxiety like Felix, fear often gets the best of you and you can’t do many things you’d love to try- despite Simone and Mireille’s encouragement, he’s still stuck in a rut.

Felix is in a long distance relationship with a girl in France, one of Armand’s many former mistresses who’s also friends with Eilis’ oldest child, He hasn’t told his family, but he’s planning to move to France if the relationship gets serious. He hopes it does, because he really loves this girl- they met through instagram. Felix didn’t start out signed to an agency- he started as an instagram model by the username of felix_is_a_penguin- Felix loves penguins dearly. He posed in front of many Ivorian historical sights and tourist attractions, using Instagram revenue to purchase new outfits. With the help of his siblings, some of which lent him some of their money, others worked as cameramen and women, Felix’s account quickly rose to stardom. When he was offered a contract for a well-known agency, Felix did a little happy dance- he uses most of his money to support his family, and some of it to support his girlfriend, who has a child herself. She used to be living as a single mother, and Felix hated to see her in such poor condition- nobody to help her. Felix is a naturally giving soul who often offers too much of himself to people who couldn’t care less about him.

Little does Felix know his girlfriend isn’t who she said she was- she’s cheating on him, with Armand (for money) and with many other men, for money and for thrill. Ruby, Alexi and Elle’s older sister hasn’t told Felix yet because she didn’t know last time he visited, but they’re planning on it….but every time this sibling sees Felix and his girlfriend on video calls or in person, Felix has a puppy dog look in his eyes and they can’t bring themself to tell Felix how his girlfriend doesn’t love him nearly as much as he loves her.

She’s still not over the fatal collision her family was involved in, seeing so many lives of her relatives were lost. She loves them all equally but secretly misses her mother most — she had just beaten breast cancer 3 months earlier only to end up dead in a car accident. [name_f]Jala[/name_f] will never get over how unfair this is and remembers how blissfully happy she was when her mother won her battle with cancer along with how happy her mother was. [name_f]Jala[/name_f] sees the silver lining: her mother didn’t want cancer to take her and it didn’t. She died a winner. But she shouldn’t have died at all and should have enjoyed her survival and gone on to re-live life again. It’s still not enough to make up for how angered she is to have lost her mother and so many other relatives.

Having [name_m]Felix[/name_m] around to bond with has truly helped her and helped him know more about her family and for her to know more about his. She loves his Instagram photos but the two only like each other as friends. She knows [name_m]Felix[/name_m] has a girlfriend and was head-over-heels excited for [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and his girlfriend. She asked her if she models often and how to be a model and got great advice from her. She learned wearing a hijab and long conservative clothing doesn’t mean she can’t model with them on. [name_f]Jala[/name_f] was becoming good friends with her…until [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] told her that she’s a gold digging cheater and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is falling for a fraud. [name_f]Jala[/name_f] unfollowed her but hasn’t stated why she has, so Felix’s girlfriend doesn’t know why she did and tries to act like they’re still friends. [name_f]Jala[/name_f] hopes [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and her adoptive siblings can bring [name_m]Felix[/name_m] to the truth.

**huge tw: strict conservative parents, pregnant 16-year-old, substance abuse and cheating. **

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] [name_m]Bouvier[/name_m] (19) is the girlfriend of [name_m]Felix[/name_m], and a fling of [name_m]Armand[/name_m]. All these other answers claim she’s not a good person, and she herself would agree with that. Her parents were strict conservatives who were a bit too overprotective of her and her twin brother (who was born her twin sister), who cut out [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and the rest of her family a long time ago. Her father was a pastor and her mother was a stay at home mother, whose main goal in life was shaping her daughter into a mold of her…she made her wear long dresses and long sleeves from a very young age so nobody would touch her- in her mother’s eyes, this was a way of protecting [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. She was safe as long as predatory men couldn’t feast their eyes on her. They lived in a suburb of [name_u]Paris[/name_u], which was pretty nice- cookie cutter homes and tree lined streets. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] always longed for something more than this. Her first dream was to become a singer- her voice was very melodic and beautiful before she started smoking. She’d put on “ concerts “ on the playground and other kids would marvel at her talent, and she’d bow bashfully. But she later realized she didn’t love singing, she loved the praise she got when she did it- so she migrated to acting.

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] signed up for a school play in fourth grade, much to her mother’s horror- this school was a private Catholic school, so the uniforms were pleated skirts that went down to the girls’ calves and collared white shirts with long sleeves, which her mother found reasonable. However, the play was “ Sleeping [name_f]Beauty[/name_f], “ and Mrs. [name_m]Bouvier[/name_m] found the outfits too suggestive. The school was K-8, so everyone was surprised when a fourth grader earned the role of [name_f]Maleficent[/name_f]. Audrey’s uniform was a long, fitted black dress with cutouts on her shoulders, and her mother demanded she wear a long black shirt underneath it- [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] found her mother’s rules ridiculous and decided not to wear the shirt underneath. When her parents watched the play, both were mortified. Her twin brother responded with “wow, imagine being such a snowflake that a little girl’s shoulders trigger you. Embarrassing.” Both were grounded for a whole month. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] still never lost her passion or talent for acting. She continued signing up for community plays and landing great roles.

However, when her aunt moved in from [name_u]Paris[/name_u] when [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] was in eighth grade, everything changed. Her aunt and her mom were sisters- her mom was only 18 months older. But the two couldn’t have been more different- her aunt was a glamorous woman with radiant, flawless skin, flamboyant makeup, and a wardrobe full of elegant clothes- she even smelled glamorous. Audrey’s mom was a heavier woman, with graying hair and liver-spotted skin. Audrey’s aunt told stories of the modeling industry- and how her company was scouting models. While [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] hadn’t forgotten acting, she became interested in modeling- despite her parents giving her a no. Audrey’s aunt bought her some new clothes- cropped tops, short shorts and push-up bras. Audrey’s mother was so extreme that she refused to let her daughter wear a bra for two years, saying it was “unnecessary.” She even landed [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] a few modeling gigs- she met a tight-knit group of friends there and became very close with them. A month later, Audrey’s aunt got kicked out after she was found having an affair with Audrey’s own father- who died of a heart attack 6 months afterwards.

By the time [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] was 15, her whole life was partying. Her family became poor after her fathers death and lived off church money- and even then it wasn’t enough. Audrey’s mother abandoned her son- after he came out as a male, she decided she didn’t want her son in her life anymore. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] became heavily depressed and began smoking and drinking. She fooled around with a boy who claimed to love her, but ditched her the second she became pregnant- her son’s now three, and she made the decision the day he was born that she would do anything to give him a good life. She got a job for [name_m]Armand[/name_m] Labossiere at 16, and turned down his offer for an affair at first, but when he caught her trying to shoplift his late wife’s jewelry, he said that if she slept with him he wouldn’t report her to the police, and he’d let her keep the money- so she kept it up and he paid her every time. She’s doing it all for her son- she does love [name_m]Felix[/name_m] but she wants his money more, and she’ll do anything for money…

[name_f]Emeline[/name_f] [name_f]Monique[/name_f] [name_f]Balou[/name_f] (25) used to grow up on the same street as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and was also a mistress of [name_m]Armand[/name_m]. She’s determined to get [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] out of her affair and relationship with him but she also pities [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and believe he deserves to know the truth regardless of whether he and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] stay together or not. Audrey’s parents hated her growing up and [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] used to attend the private school before her parents transferred her to public school. She and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] were on the same street but we’re not next-door neighbours although the houses between hers and Audrey’s hated both families because they always feuded and made it miserable for everyone else on the block. Audrey’s parents still hate her now, especially since she often wore crop tops and short shorts but [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] was always a supporter of freedom of expression. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] liked her parents, they had a secret: they adopted her as an infant. They always acted like she was their biological child and never told her anything about it until she was 14, when she started to suspect it. This angered [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] that they have hid it for so long and never brought it up or hinted at it once before then, and made their relationship rocky. She still snarks about this today, when she said, “I’m not sure if I want to give up a kidney yet [name_m]Armand[/name_m], maybe ask my parents — OH WAIT they’re not matches. I wonder why…” If only she was adopted by [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] instead, it would have been much better for her.

She and [name_m]Armand[/name_m] don’t quite get along, but she is a trusted employee and good perfume model for Labossiere Perfumes so she hasn’t gotten fired. But she is quitting and just sent her two-weeks notice, so in two weeks from now, she’s out of the company. The decision she made to leave stemmed from a confidential phone call she made on a relationship counsel hotline when she asked how to stop working for [name_m]Armand[/name_m] because she was tired of being seen as a mistress and not a hardworking employee. This phone call turned into a genuine bond with the operator [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] and they would give out their regular phone numbers to have regular conversations outside of Clyde’s work. She’s surprised by how close she and [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] live and she believes he could start a lovely relationship with her, but he’s still afraid to meet her in person. She’s hoping it’s not because he’s a cheater or a catfish and he’s neither, he’s just seriously self-conscious she won’t accept him for the scar on his face, as his late grandfather [name_u]Henri[/name_u] always harassed him over that and said he’d never find love with that scar. Truthfully [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] is a very accepting person and would still date [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] anyway, but he is quite shy.

From [name_u]Clyde[/name_u], [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] has become great friends with [name_u]Simone[/name_u] and her partner especially since [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is Armand’s friend and has helped [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] be more understanding of him even though [name_u]Simone[/name_u] supports Emeline’s decision to leave his perfume company. [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] knows [name_m]Felix[/name_m] from [name_u]Simone[/name_u] but they’ve seen each other in person only once. She thinks [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is an amazing person and both relate to one another since they’ve both done modeling. [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] are becoming closer and she knows that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is a good person despite the treatment her parents gave her and her twin brother. She supports [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] but is convinced [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is sleeping with [name_m]Armand[/name_m], although [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] has been working for him for three years before having the first “sleep”. She knows [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] just needs money and she will need money after her job expires; and [name_f]Emeline[/name_f], Audrey’s twin brother, and Simone’s partner are trying to convince [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] to pursue her real desired career — acting!

Concepcion Inocencia Teresa “ Coco “ Gonzalez-Lemont (18) grew up on the same street as Audrey and Emeline, and is now dating Audrey’s twin brother. She’s not the next door neighbor between Emeline and Audrey’s childhood homes, she’s only Audrey’s old next door neighbor (how many of you lost brain cells reading that? I know I lost some while writing that). She started dating him pre-transition, as she’s pan and loves all people, but she stuck with him through thick and thin. Here’s the catch though- they have to hide it from Coco’s parents, because they still talk to the Bouvier family as they live next door to each other and attend the same church. Coco’s parents weren’t as strict as Audrey’s but still, they were unfair to her- making her wear long dresses in summertime and itchy sweaters to cover her and shield her from the eyes of predatory men- because apparently a t-shirt is too revealing for a three-year-old. She formed a friendship with Audrey and her twin brother, and they all bonded over hating skirts and frilly dresses, though Audrey’s twin obviously hated them the most. Emeline’s parents weren’t as extreme as all of their parents, but she still sympathized with them.

Coco came from a family of five people, which includes herself- they all had to share a room, which sucked because three of them were boys. Coco’s dad was born and raised in the same Parisian suburb as Coco, while her mom was from Barcelona, in Spain. As a result, the kids grew up speaking in Spanish and French, and Coco taught some swears to the Bouvier children that their parents couldn’t understand. Eventually though, they caught on. When Audrey took up acting, Coco was really proud of her, and so was Emeline. They thought she did a great job as Maleficent- Coco was actually also in the play, but she played a gender-neutral gnome so nobody really needed to worry about her being too revealing for a stage. Coco still loves acting and sometimes participates in plays at the community theater, but she’s not nearly as good as Audrey is which she tells her all the time.

Coco has met Audrey’s son, her “ little ray of sunshine,” and she agrees he’s a very cute baby. Coco didn’t get pregnant despite fooling around from a young age- at 14, when she found an ominous little red spot (iykyk), since the school didn’t tell girls about that stuff she did her own research and decided to go on the pill. She offered money to Audrey to do the same but she declined, thinking she wouldn’t get pregnant as their school taught them nothing about that stuff. Audrey’s twin brother warned her not to do that sort of thing but she said no and wound up pregnant. Coco and her boyfriend (Audrey’s twin) are deep down glad it happened because they get a cute little nephew who’s really sweet, but wish Audrey could’ve had him under better circumstances and with a nice loving person.

Coco doesn’t work for Labossiere Perfumes but she suspects that Audrey is doing something with Armand, and she’s tried to warn her to stop, but Audrey gave her a look and started crying hysterically. “ Are you attacking me? “ she pleaded, on her knees. Coco scoffed at her- she loves Audrey but this has happened way too many times and she needs to be more mature about this sort of thing- “save it for the stage.” Audrey’s twin agrees and says she should definitely act, but she should get another job as Armand’s toxic work environment hasn’t rubbed off on Audrey well, and she doesnt truly love Felix enough to stop cheating on him so she should stop leading him on. But Audrey will always just storm off saying “you don’t get it!” Coco’s really tired and bored, having to make Audrey cooperate isn’t a fun job after all….

Uncensored warning for transphobia and homophobia.

[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_u]Julien[/name_u] [born [name_u]Dominique[/name_u] Julianne] [name_m]Bouvier[/name_m] (19) is Coco’s boyfriend and Audrey’s twin brother. [name_m]Even[/name_m] as a child, he knew lace and bows weren’t for him and hated their idea of conservative gender-conforming clothes. He’s snarked that he’s “become the ‘predatory man’ his parents warned him against” but the only thing preventing his mother from feeling that way about him is the fact that they still refuse to perceive him as a man. He’s close with his aunt despite the fact that his late father had an affair with her. [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] was always on the fence about his father; he felt horrible his father had died but he never saw him as a true father figure to him and truthfully didn’t think life without him was any worse than life with him. His father was also impulsive and very brash, which gave the Bouviers a connection with most Boisclairs since their late father reminded them of the late [name_u]Henri[/name_u] Boisclair, who had a bad relationship with every family member except [name_m]Pierre[/name_m] and also died of a heart attack despite thinking he’d outlast everyone. [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] is glad to be dating [name_u]Coco[/name_u] and is glad to have an LGBTQUIAP+ to not only date but also relate to. The only other community member in Dominic’s family was his closeted gay maternal grandfather, but [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] refused to see him as “community” since his grandpa was outwardly homophobic to cover up that he was gay and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] would not stand for any type of homophobia no matter what. Like [name_u]Coco[/name_u], [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] is also pansexual.

[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] has always been more level-headed and did not support Audrey’s ex-boyfriend and warned her not to date him. While [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] still dated him and had a child with him, [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] never shunned her and was the best uncle he could be to her son. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] did graduate but [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] wasn’t allowed to be at the graduation ceremony due to her past teenage pregnancy. She couldn’t walk at graduation or wear a cap and gown and had to pick up her diploma before the ceremony began to get it. [name_m]Dominic[/name_m], then known as [name_u]Dominique[/name_u], was allowed to walk and wear the cap and gown, but he refused in protest. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] didn’t watch the ceremony but [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] did - and in more protest, his hair was cut short and he was wearing male clothing - the first public appearance of him in his true trans identity. He knows that his parents and the school hate him, but he doesn’t care since he’s close with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and happily dating [name_u]Coco[/name_u]. They both love Audrey’s sweet bond with her son and Coco’s siblings get along as well. They’re all hoping [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] leaves her affair with [name_m]Armand[/name_m] but they don’t know about the stealing attempt and don’t understand that [name_m]Armand[/name_m] would report [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] to the police if she stopped being a mistress.

tw: abuse, sa, bigoted beliefs

Sophia Marie Dominique “ Sophie “ Bouvier [née Pelletier] is the matriarch of the Bouvier family, who’s terribly narcissistic and mean. She grew up not in a Parisian suburb, but a suburb near Toulouse, France. As Sophie’s the slightly younger sibling, her father would constantly spoil her- but he’d also try to turn her into a h0m0ph0be and r@c1st- he succeeded with both of these things. He would take her out to ice cream and to the toy shop to buy her the nicest porcelain dolls- but he would also often beat her whenever she made a tiny mistake such as knocking down a vase. Poor Sophie would sob into her pillow because she didn’t know what would happen to her if she let herself cry and make noise. If she made a statement such as “all people are equal no matter what their skin color is” or “love is love,” especially that one, the same thing would happen to her and she’d come to school all bruised up- so she adopted her father’s beliefs as she saw no other way. She doesn’t tell Audrey or Dominic about this kind of thing because she doesn’t want to revisit her past traumas.

Sophie’s older sister, Audrey and Dominic’s aunt, was a bit more of a rebel and when her father would try and hit her she would just run as fast as she could, and curl up in a cabinet under the kitchen sink. Sophie took this as a reminder to never fall out of line, and her childlike innocence was wiped away. Unlike her children, Sophie was allowed to wear whatever she wanted- as long as she paid for it herself, so she started buying her own clothes the day she turned ten. She felt very confident and comfortable in her clothes, which her father hated. She tried to reach out to her teachers about this but they all silenced her- her father was an important pillar in their community and still is. Only one teacher actually believed her, and tried to go to authorities with pictures of Sophie’s bruises, but she was forcibly removed from her job. Sophie of course was also punished by her father- he got more violent over the years too. He would tear out chunks of her hair, and he never got caught.

One day Sophie’s sister decided to fight back- but a few scratches on her father’s arms landed her in juvie and she never saw her parents again. Luckily she got adopted after serving her time by a very accepting and prominent family who was involved in the modeling business, and as her sister had “just the right figure for it,” they put her into modeling- however the two sisters did miss each other. Sophie vowed to herself to never marry a man like her father, and she tried to follow through with that. When she was around 18, she decided to leave her parents immediately and head for the French capital, known for its glitz and glamour- Paris. She loved the food, the buildings, the beautiful scenery, she thought she’d never leave. She partied, and did wonderful things there, but one day she went to a party and got inconsensually touched by a man who was the twins’ father.

Sophie was wearing a crop top and shorts like everyone else at the party so she instantly blamed the incident on her clothes. The two got married within two months, by her husband’s pastor family. She gave birth to Audrey and Dominic a bit later, and adored her beautiful twin “girls.” She forced them to wear long clothes because she thought they’d be touched inconsensually like she was if they wore normal clothes, and she really didn’t want her “daughters” to get hurt. She raised them with bigoted beliefs because she was raised that way and she didn’t know anything else- when her father came out she was mad, because he punished her for his ‘disease’ as she called it. When her sister came into town, Sophie was equally mad- she felt her sister had abandoned her. Her sister was kind to her, but Sophie walked in on her sleeping with her husband (who had many affairs throughout the course of their marriage) and told her to leave forever- and her telling Audrey about modeling made Sophie feel threatened. When her husband died, Sophie felt more liberated than sad, though she never told anyone- but when she saw his mistresses at the funeral she tried to physically hurt them. They were so young, so beautiful and they took her husband that she never loved from her…Sophie was angry and she still is. She’s an angry, hateful woman who treats everybody awfully because she hates her life.

Warning: Affairs. Mysterious, possibly suspicious death. Unlikable character…

Update: Just realised I’m stupid and forgot that her last name is Bouvier since she’s on the paternal side of the family, I have fixed that now lol :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Janelle Brigitte Bouvier (54) is the sister-in-law of Sophie. She liked being a warm and happy spirit but it was often to get what she wants. Sophie’s own sister didn’t trust Janelle. Janelle’s worked closely with Armand and Labossiere Perfumes and is in love with him but he doesn’t return her feelings. He doesn’t want her as a mistress because she is “too old” for him and he hates that she’s older than his younger daughter Amelie. Truth is, she doesn’t want to be his mistress: she wants to marry him and has literally wanted to marry him ever since his wife died! Armand has always ignored her pleas for him to marry her but she’s still in his life for one reason: she said she’d give him a kidney if he’d marry her. Armand has considered that, seeing as she is the first eligible person to outwardly say they’d donate, but hasn’t agreed - in fact if anyone else with a match agrees to donate, Armand would likely cut Janelle out of his life as she’s “not needed” and he didn’t want a new wife. Janelle is determined however and some find her crazy.

Even though Armand isn’t in love with her, they have slept together, for one night only when she was 25 and he was 60. This may have produced a son but whether Armand or Janelle’s literal husband was the father was never known and Janelle refused to let either take a paternity test. Her son Laurent Michel Bouvier (12 September 1992 - 2 September 2017, aged 24, pictured behind her) lived his life trying to not make either suspected father mad at him. Laurent and Janelle’s ex-husband hardly knew each other as the latter fled to Corsica and refused to come back and care for Laurent unless Janelle proved Laurent was his own son. Laurent secretly hoped Janelle’s ex-husband was his true father despite him leaving and felt a bad feeling about Armand. Audrey and Dominic (then known as Dominique) got along with Laurent but their father, Sophie’s husband and Janelle’s brother, hated him. He hated that Laurent was rebellious and wouldn’t “respect his elders” without reason. He also blamed Laurent for possibly being a child out of wedlock despite Laurent having no choice in the decision and nobody knowing who his father really was. Because Laurent was an adult and Audrey & Dominic were juveniles at the time, he even went as far as accusing Laurent of being a “predatory man”. “What are you talking about? I’m not trying to harm them; I’m their cousin!” Laurent said but it didn’t convince him, after all Laurent was “a thorn in his precious conservative rosebush”. Janelle had always apologised to her brother on Laurent’s behalf about his “horribly defiant behavior” and said she’d “do something about him.” Although Laurent wasn’t unprofessional, he worked as a news reporter, his uncle still hated him as he felt the station he worked for was “too liberal” (it wasn’t) and always questioned who would hire him with his “long ugly hippie hair”.

Armand had a dinner party at the dining room of his mansion; where Janelle, Sophie and her husband, Laurent, and other mistresses attended. Janelle had no idea Laurent was invited to this party and pleaded with him not to ruin her potential chance at marrying Armand. However Janelle was somewhat glad Laurent was there because he was single and closer to the mistresses’ ages and felt he could distract them away from them flirting with Armand. Laurent was invited because Armand figured he could make a news story about his perfume but deep down Laurent wasn’t there to make a perfume news story — he didn’t find it newsworthy, and wasn’t there to hurt or help Janelle’s wishes to marry Armand — he didn’t think Armand would marry her anyway. He was there for an odd but important reason; he wanted to know if Armand was his father and brought a paternity test to prove or disprove it. He thought of sneaky ways to try to collect Armand’s saliva for it but decided this wouldn’t work and had a better idea - he’d tell Armand that there was a virus spreading and he needs to be tested since he works for a big company environment. Of course there were no huge pandemics in 2017 and if Laurent wasn’t a news reporter, then Armand might have assumed Laurent was trying to test him for STDs for all those affairs which would still look suspicious. But Armand was always busy and never available to be tested. One minute he was eating dinner, the next minute he was drinking wine, then he’d be avoiding Janelle’s flirts, then he’d be dancing, then he’d be collecting money. Most of the guests, including Sophie but not her husband, had left after dinner so Laurent felt it was his time to make a move to test Armand. He went up the master staircase to find Armand but then walked away from the rooms when he realised Armand was busy having another affair with a mistress. He decided to get away from that but to the horror an hour later, he was found dead at the bottom of the master staircase with a number of head injuries, fractures, and bruises he sustained on the way down. Even Armand had shock for Laurent and genuinely wondered how no one else heard him fall and no one else noticed he had been laying there for an hour. At that point, nobody else was at the party and they had all gone home, with Armand having no knowledge whether they came home before or after the death. No drugs or alcohol were in Laurent’s system at the time of his death. Police had investigated Armand and the mistress but had confirmed they were in bed at the time of Laurent’s death and were not behind it, ruling his death an accident. Still, some found it suspicious that it was just a simple dinner party but Laurent never made it out of the party alive. He was 24, 10 days before turning 25. Janelle talked about how she missed Laurent and she attended his funeral alongside Sophie and her husband, Sophie’s twins, and fellow family and friends, alongside both Armand and Janelle’s ex-husband despite no one knowing who was actually Laurent’s father. The Boisclairs also attended and while Henri didn’t go to the funeral, before the funeral he said, “Laurent’s death isn’t tragic. He just fell recklessly because he’s inept and caused his own death,“ not realising he’d end up dying 4 months later on his own 75th birthday. What caught some people’s eyes was that Laurent‘s hair was cut short when he was laying in the casket even though Armand had said it was long when he died.

While Janelle and Sophie bonded in the past, they’re now farther apart. Janelle has comforted Sophie from her past abuse and Sophie comforted Janelle over her son’s sudden death. However Sophie couldn’t get past Janelle’s grieving of her brother, even though Janelle was her sister-in-law. Sophie’s late husband was a scoundrel and only brought up bad memories of him and also of her father. She thought Janelle’s brother was a horrible person and despised that Janelle grieved him more than she ever grieved Laurent. Sophie never tells this to Janelle nor does she discuss her other belief - she thinks Laurent’s death wasn’t an accident. In fact, Sophie thinks her late husband killed his nephew. She claims it’s suspicious that his body was left there for an hour and it’s obvious he cut Laurent’s hair at the funeral because he hated it long and wanted to do him one last disservice. He hated everything about Laurent, was hurtful and cruel, and knew Laurent was very factual and could use his intelligence to thwart and expose him. He may have had a sick idea to kill him off so his twins wouldn’t contact him, his sister would stay conservative for him, and he would finally be able to use his wrath on someone without directly looking like it was a murder. Sophie also has an alternate theory and is afraid to look into it: she thinks Janelle could have been the one to murder her own son. Janelle may have not wanted Laurent to find out the truth of his paternity because she didn’t want to ruin her idea to marry Armand and she also hated that her brother was resenting her because of her son, so she killed him to make her brother happy. Both of them have been rumoured to have murdered Laurent but the two always defended each other and said they left the party before Laurent died and insist it was an accident. Sophie says if her late husband pushed his nephew down the stairs, it would be better that he was dead since he took a life. If it was Janelle who killed her son, it would be harder to swallow but it would at least mean there was an opportunity to punish her. Even after her brother died, Janelle still defends him and herself. Even some of the other families on the street have pleaded with the Paris police to reopen the case.
