New name crush, and husband is considering it. What do you think?

My husband has recently said that he would consider [name]Roman[/name], yay! I’ve always loved the name but he was worried that the association with [name]Roman[/name] Polanski was too strong. Then we met a little [name]Roman[/name] and he has decided to really consider it. He loves the name, just not the association.

So my questions are: [name]Do[/name] you like it? Does it sound good with a brother [name]Leo[/name]? Is the association with Polanski still too strong?

Right now I like the combos [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Roman[/name] [name]Arthur[/name]. I’d love any suggestions! My son’s middle name is [name]Alexander[/name] so thats out for a middle.

I don’t think of Polanski. I think of [name]Debra[/name] Messing’s son, or [name]Harvey[/name] Keitel’s, or [name]Cate[/name] Blanchett’s, or [name]Holly[/name] [name]Robinson[/name] Peete’s. It’s very much a trendy celebrity baby name. Nameberry even called it the hottest name of 2012 (so far). It’s ranked #158 and climbing fast. I really don’t think anyone would think of Polanski these days.

I actually completely forgot about [name]Roman[/name] Polanski until you mentioned him. [name]Roman[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] go together just about perfectly in my opinion, and [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] is my favorite of your combinations. [name]Leo[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name]. They even share an x in the middle name… so cute!

I think it sounds perfect with brother [name]Leo[/name]. I didn’t think of Polanski, but probably because I know a [name]Roman[/name] in real life.
[name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] is a great combo!

I don’t know who [name]Roman[/name] Polanski is… so I don’t really have any associations tied to [name]Roman[/name]. I think it sounds great with the name [name]Leo[/name]! [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Roman[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] are both very handsome combos.

I think Holy [name]Roman[/name] Empire before I think [name]Roman[/name] Polanski so in my mind you are good. (But I also knew quite a few growing up).
I think [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] would be perfect with [name]Leo[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are classic combos and the two x’s in the mn’s are a nice little link between the two kids without it being an obvious theme.

I am considering this name as well. It doesn’t go that well (different style) with my daughter’sname but we are still considering it. It goes very well with [name]Leo[/name] for a sib name. We actually have [name]Roman[/name] [name]Leo[/name] as our combo (but again not everyone likes it).

I love [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Roman[/name] together. I had forgotten about the [name]Roman[/name] Polanski association, so it wouldn’t bother me.

I love [name]Roman[/name]! It is such a strong name that ages so well. I do not know any [name]Roman[/name]'s and like it because it is so under used.

I love the name [name]Roman[/name]! I think [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] is such a handsome name. I’ve always wanted to name one of my sons [name]Roman[/name], but couldn’t because it sounds too similar to our last name. [name]Roman[/name] and [name]Leo[/name]…cute!!!

This exactly

[name]Love[/name] it - [name]Roman[/name] is one of my favs, and goes amazing with [name]Leo[/name]! Super cute!

I can understand your husband’s hesitation since it was in the media recently, but I think the name is such a well known one that it hasn’t tainted it like it might have another name. It would take me a lot to get around to [name]Roman[/name] Polanski. My first association with it is (embarrassingly on my part) the long running character on Days of Our Lives! And, then with [name]Rome[/name].

I think [name]Roman[/name] is a terrific name.

I personally would go with either a one or three syllable mn depending on the names you like and your last name. I’m not very fond of the first and middle having the same amount of syllables, except in very specific cases. Or, unless it’s a mn of significance. 2 and 2 Can work in some situations, but I think it would almost always sound better with varying lengths.

I agree that this is a great name and sounds perfect with brother [name]Leo[/name]! Again, I think it has a much more historical and geographical association than it does with Polanski, so I wouldn’t let that worry you (especially when he is a young boy, none of his friends will ever make that assumption). I don’t think you can go wrong with either of you mn choices either! As was already mentioned [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] would keep the “x” trend that you have in [name]Alexander[/name], but [name]Roman[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] would give both of your boys an “A” mn so either way they would have a connection to each other. Very well thought out and strong sounding names, I love this! =]

Wow! [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Roman[/name] [name]Felix[/name] is just the BEST combination for brothers! Go for it

I like [name]Roman[/name], especially with [name]Leo[/name]. I don’t think of [name]Roman[/name] Polanski.

I can’t divorce this name from the adjective related to ancient [name]Rome[/name]. I think “…Catholic Church,” “…Empire,” “…mythology,” etc. As someone else recently said, to me it’s akin to naming your child “Greek” or “Persian.”

If you like the sound and don’t want a common adjective, the Irish name [name]Ronan[/name] is close.
