[name_f]Olesya[/name_f]
I loooooove it (today)
What do you think? Would you use it?
Also, are you saying the “les” like “lehs” or “lees”?

[name_f]Olesya[/name_f] is (supposed to be) pronounced Oh-LEH-sya. It was originally a nickname for [name_f]Aleksandra[/name_f] (Oleksandra), but now it’s more often used on its own. It’s quite popular in Ukraine, Belarus and Poland. I know a girl named [name_f]Olesya[/name_f], she goes by [name_f]Lesya[/name_f].
I’m not a fan, sorry.
Never heard of it. It’s very unique. Oh-Lays (like the chips)-ya is how I would pronounce Oleysia. Maybe even [name_m]Ol[/name_m]-asia. Maybe a bit too hard to pronounce, but it does look very pretty!
I like [name_f]Olesya[/name_f]. I think oh-LEHS-ya is the most intuitive (and prettiest) pronunciation.
I agree with the most of polina’s comment but I have never heard of any Olesyas who weren’t Ukrainian. It is a stereotypical Ukrainian name along with [name_f]Galina[/name_f] and I have hard time picturing it on an American girl. It is pronounced oh-LEH-sya and while I think it’s pretty, it is also a bit childish to my mind.
I have never seen or heard of it before and I’m not really a fan. I would pronounce it oh-LEHS-ya.
I like [name_f]Olesya[/name_f]! It is very similar to the Italian [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], which to me is one of the most gorgeous names I’ve ever heard!
I’ve never heard or seen this name before, and while reading your post I was running it through my head trying to figure out the pronunciation (ole’s-yah? Oh-lays-yah?) I eventually arrived at Oh-LEHS-ya like most of the above commenters. I definitely think the name looks and sounds pretty, but it would be one of those requiring constant correction and pronunciation lessons.
I say it Oh-leh-sia. I am not a huge fan with this spelling, I prefer Olisia or [name_f]Olesia[/name_f]. I don’t mind it- but I wouldn’t use it myself.
I’ve never seen this name before and my guess at how to say it was oh-LEHS-ya. It reminded me of [name_f]Oksanna[/name_f]. I like it but it’s really foreign sounding/looking and would be a little strange in the US.
