I’m finalizing my new uc and I just cannot decide on a combo for two of my names!

Originally I had [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u] but I’m not feeling it now, so I need a combo for [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] and a combo for [name_u]Willow[/name_u]!

First or middle spot, whatever you think fits best! You can use my the names in my uc or listography as inspiration :sunflower:

If you had to use the first name [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] for a girl, what middle names would you consider pairing it with?

I actually like [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] for a girl! I feel like she’s spunky and unexpected, but still very cool.

I’d go with something proud and feminine like…

[name_u]Tyler[/name_u] [name_f]Susanne[/name_f]
[name_u]Tyler[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Tyler[/name_u] [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]

If you met three little sisters named [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_u]Esme[/name_u] [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u], [name_f]Clelia[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_m]Hopewell[/name_m] (nn Clio), and [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] [name_u]Mayfair[/name_u], how would you expect them each to look? (Hair color, eye color, hair length, etc.)

For realism purposes (if you want to haha), my partner has black curly hair and brown eyes, while I have strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes! (It’s also very possible that our child could be a redhead, as his dad was one :eyes: )

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]: [name_u]Dark[/name_u] and thick curly hair that’s shoulder length, dark eyes, big smile.
[name_f]Clelia[/name_f]: Blonde wavy / loose curls a bit below shoulder length with bright blue eyes, bubbly and happy.
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]: Straight red or strawberry blonde that’s reasonably long with green or hazel eyes, freckles, reserved demeanor.

If someone were to introduce themselves as an unexpected nickname in front of a class / group in a situation where the instructor knew their real name from the roster, should they introduce themselves as “my name is (name), but I go by (unexpected nickname)”, “my name is (name), but you can call me (unexpected nickname), or just “hi I’m (unexpected nickname)”, and clarify if the instructor asks their full name as there’s nobody on the roster with that name?

i think this one is the way to go!

‘…but you can call me…’ is a close second, but i feel like ‘i go by’ would probably be less confusing. this way, nobody would be confused by their full name if it comes up (like on a roster or someone mentions it) and they know to call the person by their preferred nickname.

i’m loving Rio for my future son! i love him because he works in both spanish and english, he’s zippy and adorable but also strong and cool - i can see him on any type of person! i’m trying to find a sister for sweet Rio that i love just as much. i’ve conjured a list of options!

could you please tell me what name you think is the perfect sister for Rio / perfect daughter for me out of this list and why you chose it?

my list...

Ayanna - i think everyone knows i love this one! she’s special to me in the sense that i love her vibes, nicknames, meaning, multiculturalness (is that a word?) and i could go on.

Madeleine - she is so personally meaningful to me, and i just love her! one of the first names i loved. i’m sure you’ve heard me gushing about her on here before! however, it personally really bothers me when people mispronounce or misspell my name, and i’m a bit worried that giving my kid this name will sentence her to that.

Maya - i love how this one means water which ties in with Rio - i looove subtle sibling connections! this name doesn’t hold loads of personal meaning to me, other than i like the sound. maybe it’s a little too common? but i love how it travels well!

Alma - Alma is a character in a book that is very special to me, and i feel like it works really well with Rio. i also love that it’s a spanish name. but i’m not completely sold on the actual sound of the name?

Alba - pretty much the same as Alma in my reasonings! i love the meaning of ‘sunrise’ but i’m not sold on the sound of the name. the ‘lba’ sound is a bit awkward to me, i think!

Luna - definitely one of my more popular choices but i love the sound and meaning of moon! goes really well with Rio, i think, as well.

Gwen - this one’s so sweet! i really like the sound and also it honours my welsh heritage but still pronounceable in spanish.

thank you in advance!

Ahhhhh, [name_f]Miley[/name_f], you have such a beautiful list! I love them all! It was so hard to choose, but ultimately for a sister to [name_u]Rio[/name_u] I’d use [name_f]Maya[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f].

Summary

[name_f]Maya[/name_f] - Like you said, it means water, so it ties in with [name_u]Rio[/name_u] very well. I also love subtle sibling connections, it has such a beautiful sound, and it does travel really well! Personally, I don’t think it’s too common. I’ve met two Mayas and a [name_f]Maia[/name_f], but they’re all around my age (grades 9-10 maybe). I don’t know any little Maya/Maias, and I’d love to meet one!

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] - I also love the meaning of moon!! To be honest, this was the first thing I thought of even before I read your list! [name_u]Rio[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] are both Spanish word names, and they both flow wonderfully together! It also has a beautiful sound! Where I live, it’s actually not very popular, as I don’t know any Lunas where I live. I did meet a little girl named [name_f]Luna[/name_f] on my trip to Spain… I thought that was so sweet.

Now, for my question… very similar to yours .

I’m loving [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] for my future daughter. I think everyone on here probably knows that by now . It’s my favorite girl name and has been for the past 7-8 years (more than half my life lol), and I don’t expect that to change. She’s so sweet, timeless, and mature, but still spunky and strong at the same time! I’m not the biggest fan of any of the numerous nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I’ve made up shortlists of possible sibling ideas for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I’d love to know which ones (one boy, one girl) you choose and why! [name_m]Ty[/name_m] in advance!

Girls:

Summary

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - I really love this as a sister to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] because it’s sweet and graceful, yet it still somehow (at least to me) gives off an impression of power and courage. She’s sweet, but definitely not weak and defenseless at all. I know two pairs of sisters named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and I think they’re wonderful together!

[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - Another classic and sweet name that I love as a sister to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f], I do think that it has that level of grace, beauty, and sweetness to it, as well as maturity, but I don’t personally think it exudes that much strength. She’s warm and friendly, and makes a wonderful sister.

[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] - [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] much the same as [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. It’s very classic, sweet, graceful, and mature. It also gives me a level of regalness (not sure if that’s a word) because both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] were queen names. I do love that shared connection between names.

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - This is a name that’s been growing on me, but I already love it a lot! To me it’s very spunky, playful, energetic, and cheerful, and the meaning probably helps that a lot. It gives me 1800s exploring-the-American-frontier vibes, and sounds like a cheerful girl who isn’t afraid to break rules, but is a great friend and sister.

Boys:

Summary

[name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] - This is my favorite boys name of all time. I actually do really like the idea of having my two favorite names of all time together in one sibset. However, I wonder sometimes that the styles/sounds don’t exactly match. I love [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] because of it’s cheerfulness and playfulness but also the fact that it can sound mature and responsible at the same time. I really like the nicknames [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_m]Benji[/name_m] but don’t like how they sound with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

[name_u]James[/name_u] - [name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite boys name of all time. It’s probably one of the most timeless, classic, and longstanding names ever, and I love that it shares that with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It sounds strong and protective, but still loving at the same time. [name_f]My[/name_f] only concern is that it might sound too short next to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

[name_u]William[/name_u] - Yet another lovely timeless classic. Also another boys name I’ve loved for awhile. It sounds very mature and bookish to me, while still maintaining that ability to be fun and cheerful. I also think that the nicknames [name_u]Will[/name_u] or [name_u]Liam[/name_u] freshen it up quite a bit, but that may or may not be a problem because I don’t like the nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] - [name_f]My[/name_f] final name. This has also been one of the very few longstanding boys names loves that I’ve had. I do know siblings [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and they’re so sweet together (both the names and the people)! [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] to me is very spunky and mischievous but still protective and loyal (based on the Thomases I know). I don’t like the nicknames [name_m]Tom[/name_m] or [name_u]Tommy[/name_u] at all.

Ooh this one is exciting! Let me start off by saying I adore your style, I think it’s both very beautifully classic and classy!!

For two siblings for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], I would go with [name_u]James[/name_u] and Catherine!!
Choosing a boy’s name was difficult, as I know you mentioned you have many favorites, but I just love the way [name_u]James[/name_u] goes with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! To me, they both exude such royal, stately vibes, while still feeling very friendly and sweet! I don’t think that [name_u]James[/name_u] is too short at all next to Elizabeth; in fact, I think they balance each other out quite nicely. I also think that if you’d still love to use [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] is a lovely combo!!
[name_f]My[/name_f] girl’s choice, [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], just felt so right with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u]! You pointed out that, like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], she has that royal tie, and I think that’s what makes her so cohesive with [name_u]James[/name_u] as well! Despite the name’s physical length, her smaller number of syllables makes her feel like she fits quite well with both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u], tying the set together quite nicely!!
Overall, I don’t think you could go wrong in pairing any of these names with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but I personally think that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is just a total winning set!!

As of right now, I have three top sets of siblings (two sets of all girls, and one of all girls and a boy). Which of these sets would you say is most “me” / could you see me most realistically using, and why?
Alternatively, if you don’t know me very well, feel free to tell me which set is your favorite and why!!

[name_m]Set[/name_m] 1

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_u]Esme[/name_u] [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] (August)
[name_f]Clelia[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_m]Hopewell[/name_m] (Clio)
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] [name_u]Mayfair[/name_u]

[name_m]Set[/name_m] 2

[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Garnet[/name_u]
[name_f]Madelief[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_m]Friday[/name_m] (Liefe)
[name_f]Solveig[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]July[/name_u] (Sol)

[name_m]Set[/name_m] 3

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] [name_m]Friday[/name_m] (August)
[name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] [name_u]Esme[/name_u] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] (Minnow / Tansy)
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Mariner[/name_u] (he is a boy)

oh this is so easy! definitely [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Clelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]! i associate these names (and their respective middles) with you very strongly. to me, all have a distinct strength that really reminds me of you. they have a cool vintage vibe and are familiar, despite being unique, that seems perfect to you. in contrast, [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f], and [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] feel less exciting and interesting (though i totally love them). and i do definitely love [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_f]Madelief[/name_f], and [name_f]Solveig[/name_f] for you, but they feel a little too unfamiliar and different, imo. i think more slightly familiar names (so in this case, [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Clelia[/name_f], + Lavinia) are a bit more realistic for you.

and regarding the middles, i think [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u], [name_m]Hopewell[/name_m], and [name_u]Mayfair[/name_u] all scream winterlyricalfox! they’re all very unique, like the second middles of the other sets, but they feel a little more name-y to me. for one reason or another, i don’t totally love super obvious word names for you, so i really like [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u], [name_m]Hopewell[/name_m], and [name_u]Mayfair[/name_u] for you! they just seem like something you’d use more realistically, to me.

and, as a final note, i absolutely adore [name_f]Clelia[/name_f] “Clio” for you! so i would have a hard time picking a set that excluded her.

knowing i’m trying to capture a cold, wintery vibe (think: watching snow falling from inside your cabin in the mountains, seeing fresh deer hoof prints in the snow, tall evergreen trees dusted with snow), what three brothers would you add to this somewhat eclectic set?

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u], [name_m]Ivo[/name_m] [name_m]Fenrir[/name_m], [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] [name_u]Pine[/name_u], & [name_u]Fjord[/name_u] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m]

[name_f]Sibel[/name_f]? Is it a variant of [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] or [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]? It is the first time I hear it

Summary

@heartwings I have an Italian friend with this name! She pronounces it ‘see-BEL’. From what I can find, it’s either an Italian variant of [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] (probs the most likely) or a Turkish form of [name_f]Cybele[/name_f] or a Turkish name derived from Arabic meaning ‘water fountain’.

Summary

Oh cool, first time I hear it! I have always thought that the Italian form is “Sibilla” personally, it seems most likely to have ties with other names or to be invented in my opinion.
