[name_m]Elwood[/name_m] is my son’s middle name and I love it! I would love to have used it as a first because it has great nicknames, my favourite being Woods/Woody. I enjoy the nature meaning behind it too. I have had lots of positive reactions to this name too with most people saying they hadn’t heard it before.

From the rest of the list [name_m]Wilmot[/name_m] and [name_m]Winford[/name_m] intrigue me. Both names have great nickname potential and they feel familiar but uncommon. I like that [name_m]Winford[/name_m] makes me visualise a place with the [name_m]Ford[/name_m] part of the name.

I know a young man named [name_m]Wilmot[/name_m]! I haven’t met anybody with the others, though I’ve heard of [name_m]Brisco[/name_m], [name_m]Elwood[/name_m], and [name_m]Chapman[/name_m].

[name_m]Arland[/name_m] is my favorite of this group, and if I were to use one, it would be that. I also think [name_m]Brisco[/name_m] has a cool sound, although I’d prefer it spelled [name_m]Briscoe[/name_m].

Zanvill reminds me too much of ‘anvil’, and the “war” part is a little too prevalent in Warham for me (although I don’t feel the same way about [name_m]Warren[/name_m] or [name_m]Warner[/name_m], oddly :woman_shrugging:)

I think these all originated as surnames, although I believe Wilmot was a female name in medieval England. I’ve seen Elwood a bit in census records from the early 20th century.

They all seem like places on a map of town names in [name_m]England[/name_m] or something

[name_m]Wickham[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Pride[/name_m] and Prejudice! I probably wouldn’t use it just due to that association alone. I love [name_m]Wilmot[/name_m] and [name_m]Arland[/name_m] though. [name_m]Brisco[/name_m] sounds like a supermarket and Zanvill like a medication,

[name_m]Brisco[/name_m] makes me think of [name_m]Brisco[/name_m] [name_f]Darling[/name_f], the patriarch of the mountain family in the old [name_m]Andy[/name_m] [name_m]Griffith[/name_m] Show. Dad of [name_f]Charlene[/name_f] and the bluegrass playing “boys” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

[name_m]Wickham[/name_m] is interesting—one of my favorite musicians has this surname—but idk how I feel about it as a given name? [name_m]Chapman[/name_m] is interesting too but same. [name_m]Winford[/name_m] and [name_m]Brisco[/name_m] are really cool though!
