Place to discuss our new year resolutions or goals for the year. We can help encourage each other and be a place for support.

I’ll go first. This year I want to cut my coca cola addiction. It was getting really bad and I also think I may loose some weight and be able to get back to sports that I used to enjoy.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] church is also doing a read the Bible in a year program. I’ve been a [name_m]Christian[/name_m] since I was a kid but realized I’ve never read completely through the Bible.
Trying to lose at least[name_f][/name_f] 40lbs before TTC#2 in the summer but have some life complications that are going to make it a bit hard (no gym access, can’t really set dinner schedule…etc)
[name_f][/name_f]
I also am realizing I should probably cut the amount of Dr. [name_f]Pepper[/name_f] I drink as well…..
[name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]New[/name_m] Year’s Resolutions this year:
[name_f][/name_f]
Planning and Saving [name_m]Money[/name_m] to move out of state (across the country actually!) by summer 2027.
[name_f][/name_f]
Reducing Stress and Prioritizing my Physical and Mental Health. I’ve been under a lot of stress for a few reasons I won’t get into but it has been manifesting its self as physical reactions in my body, like an auto-immune disease (or I have an auto-immune disease and stress is a trigger that makes it worse..) I have an appointment with an allergist tomorrow. We just found a lovely home for my dog, a family with a big yard for him to get out his abundance of energy. He was becoming a lot for me to care for on top of my infant and toddler and since we don’t have a yard right now it was too chaotic. It breaks my heart but I need to find ways to minimize stress and as much as I love and miss him, it is better for us both.
[name_f][/name_f]
Minimize the Amount of “Stuff” to clean and care for, but Clean and [name_m]Care[/name_m] for them Better[name_f][/name_f]. Rehomimg the dog was a large part of this. Also decluttering and keeping the home minimal. Doing these things gives me less to care for and clean so I can focus on the quality of care I have time to put in for fewer things rather than neglecting care for all besides the kids basically because I feel overwhelmed. Another large part of this goal is taking better care of myself, which ties into the previous goal too. I always take care of myself last.

Potty Training my Toddler… it’s time. [name_m]Not[/name_m] looking forward to this one!
I’d love to carry my baby boy closer to term than I was able to with my daughter. Due to cholestasis there was no way I could deliver any later than 36 weeks with my daughter. [name_f]She[/name_f] would not have survived longer than a few days more in there. [name_m]Her[/name_m] lungs were a bit underdeveloped in part because of the slight prematurity, and in part (my theory) because of the sertraline (zoloft) I take every day. Sertraline is very well documented in pregnancy and can cause underdeveloped lungs.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]So[/name_f] when she was born, she had swallowed her meconium (first poop) which isn’t uncommon for cholestasis babies, not sure exactly why. [name_f]She[/name_f] was trying to breathe, she was awake and trying to cry but she wasn’t making a sound. What followed was the scariest 6 minutes of my life. It was also so uneventful because her SATs never dropped into danger levels and she did start breathing on her own. I think what was so awful was that no one told me she was breathing and then they took her to the NICU for observation.
[name_f][/name_f]
I know that’s a lot of words lol, I always over explain haha.
[name_f][/name_f]
Statistically with subsequent pregnancies, cholestasis reoccurrence is around 60 to 90 percent. And that’s with mild cases, mine was severe straight outta the gate. [name_f]So[/name_f] I was expecting cholestasis to happen much earlier with my current pregnancy, but so far, so good! I was diagnosed at 29 weeks with my first and I’m 25 weeks now, so not out of the woods, but I’m really pleased. We are testing fairly often and hopefully we can catch it before it goes into the super severe range. [name_m]Even[/name_m] 37 week delivery would make me so happy. Everything besides my daughter’s lungs was perfect. [name_f]She[/name_f] was 6 pounds 11 ounces which is big for a 36 weeker!
Re: sertraline, I don’t believe there is a lot of evidence for sertraline impacting lung development. [name_m]The[/name_m] data tends to show that conditions that sertraline is used to treat, such as depression, may be the cause of difference rather than the medication itself because rates tend to be similar when mothers stop sertraline before pregnancy as when they continue sertraline during pregnancy. [name_f]So[/name_f] it isn’t likely that it will impact your son’s lungs during this pregnancy. I do hope you are able to keep him in to at least 37 weeks though!
I’m on a different antidepressant, but I agree. [name_f]My[/name_f] OB told me the effects of a mom’s untreated depression are more dangerous to fetal development than antidepressants. [name_m]The[/name_m] OB clinic I go to does not recommend mothers coming off psychiatric medication during pregnancy unless there is a well-documented issue. (I think antipsychotics fall into this category, but don’t quote me.) [name_m]Major[/name_m] depression runs in my family. Hopefully the serotonin boost will help my baby out.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] only goals this year are to read the books I already own and get ready for my baby. I’m notorious for impulse visits to the library where I check out huge stacks of books I read in a frenzy instead of reading from the shelves in my own home.
Certainly depression if more harmful for the baby, mine helped me with my debilitating anxiety when I was 11 and I’ve been on it ever since. I would like to see how I am off of it, I’ve been on it for nearly 2 decades and I’d like to see how I manage without it.
[name_m]Oh[/name_m] wow, yeah, bit of a different situation. I had to fight with psychiatrists for years to let me try something other than an SSRI. All those have ever done is make me gain weight. SNRIs are what finally helped me with mood, energy, and motivation. Downside is I can’t skip a dose without getting the spins.
@BarelyHailey[name_f][/name_f] thank you for making this thread. i’m doing bible in a year as well!
[name_f][/name_f]
my husband and i are cutting refined sugar from our diets this year. i have some gut issues anyway, so it’s much better for me inflammation-wise. my husband finds that he has more energy, and feels less foggy too! it’s been going really well so far, we make all of our snacks/sweets at home and sweeten with dark chocolate, honey, or maple syrup!
[name_f][/name_f]
we are also hoping to extend our garden and can more vegetables this summer and fall. we’ve already filled our freezer with venison and turkey my husband processed himself. getting closer and closer to having our tiny homestead!!
[name_f][/name_f]
i’ve also been trying to kick phone addiction by learning to knit!
