Newbie Needs Opinion on Girl's Name

What about [name]Elizabeth[/name], nn [name]Eliza[/name]? Similar to [name]Elora[/name] but then you could use a different middle since you are using your honor name in the first position. [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] is very nice.

I think that if you don’t mind alliteration than [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is fine, imo it’s really beautiful, [name]Elizabeth[/name] obviously has special meaning to you as it honors family. And usually most people will not go around calling your daughter her first, middle, and last name.

i dont know how i [name]JUST[/name] remembered this…but linea means “line” in Spanish, doesnt it? hmmmmmm

never been a fan of eliza :frowning: i wish i likes it, because that would sure make things easy! thanks for the idea tho!

thanks i agree. i actually like the alliteration. i would typically avoid alliterating, but [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] just sounds feminine and easy flowing to me. the only hang up i have is our last name. does [name]Elora[/name] Ready work? (seriously missing my maiden name right now! lol!)

crickets on elora ready? lol

I had a classmate in elementary school with the name, and I had always thought it was really pretty. When we found out we were having a girl, I looked it up, found it was Scandinavian (I’m 1/4 Swedish, so that worked for us), and really liked how the name came about.

“[name]Linea[/name]” is line in Spanish, but [name]Linnea[/name] is pronounced (at least, for us) with the accent on the 2nd syllable. I’m used to correcting people about my own name, so it doesn’t bother me to correct them with [name]Linnea[/name]'s name.

As for [name]Elora[/name] Ready, it doesn’t sound terrible, but I’m not crazy about it. If you’re not totally set on [name]Elora[/name], it might be nice to try out different names with your last name.

Hmm, the double [name]El[/name]- of [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] would bother me as redundant, but if you don’t mind, I think it’s great. I don’t think the R sounds of [name]Elora[/name] Ready are bad or redundant–while they aren’t ideal, that wouldn’t be a deal-breaker for me if you love it. [name]Elora[/name] is beautifully original, though I would probably run with [name]Elora[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elora[/name] over [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I think [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is the absolute winner, though! [name]Linnea[/name] Ready is clean, pretty, smart, and I like possible nicknames [name]Linnie[/name], [name]Lea[/name] [[name]Lay[/name]-ah], and [name]Nell[/name]. You don’t run into the -ra R. dilemma at all. If you want more of [name]Elora[/name]'s sound, you could consider [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elinor[/name], too.

[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] would be my last choice of the names I’ve seen creep up the most in your posting. I like each one individually, but both are so classic and well-used. [name]Caroline[/name] is ranked at #80 in the US and [name]Elizabeth[/name] just broke the Top 10. Neither [name]Linnea[/name] nor [name]Elora[/name] have been ranked…ever? Certainly not in the Top 1000 for years and years. Growing up the only one in your class with a pretty name like [name]Linnea[/name] or [name]Elora[/name] seems much more special than being [name]Caroline[/name] R. or [name]Elizabeth[/name] R.

Thanks! That last post was helpful.

After sleeping on it again, I really, really love the name [name]Elora[/name] and the meaning behind it as “shining light” or “from the seashore”. I also like that the original spelling, Elllora, was a name that came from an ancient [name]Indian[/name] city that promoted religious tolerance. So I think I am going to stick with the name, [name]Elora[/name].

I am not 100% set on [name]Elizabeth[/name], however. I could also honor her great-grandmother with her last name “[name]Davis[/name]” as a mn? [name]Elora[/name] [name]Davis[/name]? What are your thoughts? Id like more suggestions for middle names if you guys aren’t fond of [name]Elizabeth[/name].

Thanks!
