Newbie Needs Opinion on Girl's Name

[name]Hi[/name] all,

I am new here and my DH and I are expecting our first LO, a baby girl  We are due in just a couple of months, so I want to settle on a name. We are almost 100% decided on [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], but I want your input! I first read about the name [name]Elora[/name] on Nameberry, so I thought Id come back to the source. What do you think? Does it matter to you that our last name starts with an “R”?

Thanks all!

Also, another name we are considering is [name]Sienna[/name] Nepenthe. Also, [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Please help! ([name]Elizabeth[/name] after her Great Grandmother)

[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is my favorite! I like both [name]Elora[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name], but the two [name]El[/name] [name]El[/name]'s together are too much for me.

Thanks for responding! Also thinking of [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I think all of your choices are pretty! [name]Sienna[/name] is beautiful but Nepenthe is nms, I’d go with something simpler. I think [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is pretty - but here on Nameberry you’ll probably get lots of feedback saying that the repetitive [name]El[/name] [name]El[/name] sound isn’t great. Most Berries don’t seem to like alliteration when it comes to names! I think it’s ok sometimes, especially if the middle name has special significance to you. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely too though! Good luck!

or [name]Linnea[/name] Nepenthe

These are both beautiful names although they are not the best at flowing.

  1. Alternatives for [name]Elora[/name]

[name]Eliora[/name]
[name]Eleanora[/name]
[name]Meliora[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Liora[/name]

  1. Alternatives [name]Elizabeth[/name]
    [name]Katherine[/name]
    [name]Charlotte[/name]
    [name]Audrey[/name]
    [name]Victoria[/name]
    [name]Beatrice[/name]

  2. Other Ideas

I do not know how much family etc. meaning the names have or which one you would rather keep. I can do combinations if you like any of the options. I would say though that you should try not to start both names with the same letters [in this case el-] and avoid starting with a vowel on the mn.

[name]Hope[/name] this helps

I love [name]Elora[/name]!

[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely BTW.

[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is my favorite! The two [name]El[/name]'s bother me. The R in your last name might interfere with [name]Elora[/name]. What about [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]?

[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] are my favorites.

Thanks, ladies! I don’t know why the two “el” sounds dont bother me, but I am concerned with the “ra” sound from [name]Elora[/name] running into our last name, which begins with an “R”.

What are middle names that you would suggest for [name]Elora[/name]?

I like [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] but haven’t been sold on it, because it feels a bit ho-hum to me.

Nepenthe was considered as a middle name as that is where DH proposed.

Also like the name [name]Linnea[/name]. Or could move into the direction of something more sporty/surfer girl than these feminine names. Im pretty much second guessing everything right now! Lol.

I love [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely. What about [name]Elora[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]? But I like the idea of honoring LO’s great grandmother. Have you thought of using [name]Elizabeth[/name] as the first name?

Does your last name start with a “[name]Ra[/name]” sound or something totally different? If it’s “[name]Ra[/name]…” then it will sound run-together with [name]Elora[/name].

I don’t really mind the repetitive “el” sound. In reality, the flow of the first name plus last is what is going to come up more in daily life. Most people will never hear the mn. So if you have strong reasons for using [name]Elizabeth[/name], I wouldn’t let it stop you.

Nepenthe is weird to me. I’m not sure how to pronounce it. Is it a family name or something? If so, that’s okay. Otherwise, I like [name]Sienna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] more. Or [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] is fine, too, but it seems a tad more classic than your other options, so I’m wondering if it will direct you towards a more classic/plain/common name route for future children?

Aside from the issues of flow, I really like [name]Elora[/name].

ETA: I wrote this before seeing what you said about Nepenthe. I like the meaning behind it for you. [name]How[/name] is it pronounced?

I have thought of [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a first name. Her great grandmother goes by [name]Libby[/name]. We couldnt use that or any nick-names that end in “y” as our last name ends in “y”, right? And I hate when people try to go by the full name [name]Elizabeth[/name], because inevitably people always try to shorten it and it ends up as [name]Liz[/name], which Im not a fan of. If you ahve any NN suggestions for [name]Elizabeth[/name] that might work, let me know. Then, Id just have to think of a middle name  I do like three-syllable first names as our last name is only two.

[name]Linnea[/name] doesnt have a special meaning to us like [name]Elora[/name] does (which means shining light in Greek and from the seashore in Latin). I came across [name]Linnea[/name] for the first time on our honeymoon. There was a lovely couple at our resort, and the wife’s name was [name]Linnea[/name]. I guess that’s an okay story tho? Because the meaning is “lime tree”…

last name is Ready…like the word. As in “Im ready”

My favorite of the names you have put out here is [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

nah-pen-they

I’m biased toward [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]; [name]Linnea[/name] is my dd’s name.

awwww! how did you pick the name? it’s a swedish name, right?
