Neymar?

I believe it’s of Mexican origin? I could be wrong though. I just heard of it recently. It’s pronounced Nay-mar. Thoughts?

There’s an extremely famous football (soccer) player with this name. I automatically associate it with him and would probably assume that was an intentional choice. But I think the sounds are lovely and it’s really cool!

Neymar is intriguing and distinct

This was my first thought too. I have a very strong association with him

I’ve never heard of this player (not into sports) but I think I would too.

As a Spanish learner, I can say that it doesn’t sound Mexican to me but I could easily be wrong.

My only reference is [name_m]Neymar[/name_m] the soccer player too. I’d say he’s one of the most famous players in the world. For me, it’s a positive association. He’s from [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] so it’s likely a Portuguese name. I live in Central [name_u]America[/name_u], and I’ve never heard it here.

I really can’t unassociate it with the football player. I’m not a fan, sorry.

I’d say it’s too much of a one-person name. I’ve never heard of anyone named [name_m]Neymar[/name_m] other than the Brazilian megastar.
