Nickname "Arry or Arrey" for Archer?

Looking for feedback for using Arry or Arrey as a nickname for [name_u]Archer[/name_u], versus [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure how it would be spelled. When we say it, it sounds like the “Ar” sound from [name_u]Archer[/name_u] (in the US, anyway), not like “Air-ee”, if that makes sense! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] boy [name_u]Archer[/name_u] on the way!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Archer[/name_u] :bow_and_arrow: I instinctively pronounced Arry/Arrey like [name_u]Harry[/name_u] without an H (British pn, Ha- as in hat). To get ar-ee as in [name_u]Archer[/name_u] I’d probably spell it [name_u]Ari[/name_u]? But obviously that will vary depending on accent!

^ I’m inclined to say all this as well! [name_u]Archer[/name_u] is a beautiful name.

same for me, though the more i look at it the more i’m seeing the ARE sound. i feel like ari would be the less confusing way.

I’d spell it [name_u]Ari[/name_u] or [name_u]Ary[/name_u] personally, but soundwise, it’s a great choice

Agree with the above. I know people named [name_u]Ari[/name_u] and [name_u]Ary[/name_u] who say it are-ee, but Arry or Arrey would be like [name_u]Harry[/name_u] to me.

Me too! And I have an American accent. If I saw Arry or Arrey, I’d immediately think it was pronounced AIR-ee.

I love [name_u]Archer[/name_u]. If you want this nickname, I’d spell it [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. Arry seems like it would be pronounced like [name_u]Barry[/name_u] or [name_m]Larry[/name_m] or [name_u]Garry[/name_u].

[name_u]Archer[/name_u] is a great name!

[name_f]My[/name_f] great aunt was named [name_f]Arrie[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f], called [name_f]Arrie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], and her name was pronounced the way you want your nn pronounced but I would not go so far as to say people got it right.

I do think Arry looks like [name_u]Harry[/name_u] pro.
I’ve known two [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. One girl, one boy. The boy [name_u]Ari[/name_u] was also pronounced by his parents the way you want but it was mispronounced often. [name_u]Ary[/name_u] might help. It also might help that most people would know his name is [name_u]Archer[/name_u] if Arry/Ary is a pet name. If you’re going for calling him by the nn primarily, it’s going to require at least some clarification regardless, I think.
