I met a little girl named [name]Brie[/name] the other day, which I thought was just a stand alone name or nn for [name]Brianne[/name] or [name]Brianna[/name] or something. Turns out her name is Actually [name]Gabrielle[/name], nn [name]Brie[/name].
[name]Do[/name] y’all like this? I thought this was a clever way to freshen up both [name]Brie[/name] and [name]Gabrielle[/name]. Thoughts?
I love the name [name]Gabrielle[/name], and I think [name]Brie[/name] is a cute nn for it. I also really like [name]Gabby[/name] and [name]Brielle[/name] as well though.
I am not a fan of [name]Bri[/name]/[name]Bree[/name]/[name]Brie[/name] really at all (although I like the [name]Brie[/name] spelling best), but I do like [name]Gabrielle[/name] to get to [name]Brie[/name] much more than [name]Briana[/name]/[name]Brianne[/name]. My coworker is [name]Brie[/name]@nn, nn [name]Brie[/name]–I wouldn’t suggest that one at all.
I love [name]Bree[/name]! [name]Bree[/name] can stand on it’s own. It’s spunky.
[name]Brie[/name] is cheese. It’s yummy too, but it is odd that they would spell it this way. Lots of people are in love with clipped names these days. They sound new and modern and trendy. [name]Brielle[/name] is one of them. It’s used instead of [name]Gabrielle[/name]. Or [name]Briella[/name] instead of [name]Gabriella[/name].
I prefer them myself. I dislike the gab part of [name]Gabrielle[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though the spelling in [name]Gabrielle[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name] is [name]Brie[/name], I would spell the nick name [name]Bree[/name]. It doesn’t have to match.
[name]Gabrielle[/name] is beautiful. I’m not loving the name [name]Brie[/name] though. [name]Brielle[/name] is trending right now though. I kind of like [name]Gabby[/name], but just have good associations with it.
love it as a nn for gabrielle, agree it sounds like a nice and fresh twist on the expected!
i know a brie, or maybe it’s bree, and i think it’s short for brienna. as someone else said the ‘clipped’ sound of it is really nice! I think it sounds preppy but kind, a girl that’s good looking and you might think she’d be bratty for it, but she turns out to be sweet- or maybe im just projecting from the actual brie i know! ha!
That’s my name and nickname! I do get a lot of “how do you get [name]Brie[/name] out of [name]Gabrielle[/name]?” but most people love it, so do I. Hated going by [name]Gabby[/name].
It could have been “[name]Bree[/name]”, I didn’t ask how it was spelled, I just projected- not really sure on the correct spelling of that one.
Also, love the cheese but not the association there.
My mother’s name is [name]Gabrielle[/name] and goes by [name]Gaby[/name]. I’ve always liked [name]Gaby[/name], but I feel like it belongs to my mom.
I’ve always thought I would name a daughter [name]Gabrielle[/name] and call her [name]Elle[/name]. But [name]Elle[/name] and [name]Ella[/name] are so popular now, I’m just not sure if I like those nn anymore. [name]Just[/name] an idea. Might use [name]Gabrielle[/name] as a middle instead.
