We are struggling to come up with a nackname for a future boy. I am [name_m]Frank[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] M- IV and if our current pregnancy turns out to be that of a boy, his name will be [name_m]Frank[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] M- V. [name_f]My[/name_f] wife doesn’t like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. We can’t use [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] or [name_u]Lee[/name_u] do to family members and just [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is too confusing. Thought about [name_m]Mac[/name_m] but aren’t too sure. Please help!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
What about the nick-name [name_u]Flip[/name_u]?
For “fifth”…
[name_m]Quint[/name_m]
[name_u]Cinco[/name_u] (I know a 5th who gets called this and it works for him!)
Vee
And from the name itself…
[name_m]Fitz[/name_m]
[name_m]Fritz[/name_m]
[name_f]Franci[/name_f]
[name_m]Franz[/name_m]
[name_m]Frey[/name_m]
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]
[name_u]Cinco[/name_u] was my first thought too!
And I second the [name_u]Flip[/name_u] suggestion, that’s a good one!
If [name_m]Mac[/name_m] works, that’s a solid choice too. Other options that came to mind - [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], [name_u]Quince[/name_u], [name_m]Quint[/name_m] (or Quintin), [name_m]Chip[/name_m], [name_m]Fritz[/name_m], [name_u]Franklin[/name_u].
[name_u]Or[/name_u] I think you could use any nicknames that suit your taste… [name_u]Jet[/name_u], [name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_u]Cal[/name_u], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], etc. like NFL player [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] Mahomes recently named his son [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_u]Lavon[/name_u] Mahomes III and he goes by [name_m]Bronze[/name_m], a completely unrelated name.
I fully agree that any nickname that fits makes sense for a junior/3rd/etc! But I think he’s Bronze because he’s a 3rd, and 3rd place is the bronze medal . So it is connected to his name, in a clever way I probably wouldn’t have come up with myself!
How about:
Five
Fiver (Brit for five pound note)
Quintus
Macca
Quincy
Quinto
Francis
Finn (five dollar note was known as a “fin”)
Nick/Nico (nickel is five cents)
Penn (Greek penta = fifth)
Franco
Cinco
Cisco (a leap from Frank to San Francisco)
Frankly
Franklin
How about [name_m]Fritz[/name_m] or [name_m]Quintus[/name_m]? If your surname has Mc in it I’d definitely recommend [name_m]Mac[/name_m]. [name_m]Bigger[/name_m] stretches I can think of are [name_m]Fraser[/name_m], and [name_u]Liam[/name_u] for [name_u]Lee[/name_u] M.
[name_m]Frank[/name_m] Lee…
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] (combining [name_m]Frank[/name_m] and Quin)
[name_u]Fran[/name_u]
Feef
V/Vee (since he’d be number V/5)
[name_u]Leo[/name_u] (based on Leo?)
Penn/Pen (from Penta- meaning five?)
[name_m]Fitz[/name_m]
[name_u]Fox[/name_u]
[name_m]Flash[/name_m]
[name_u]Fife[/name_u]
Anker/Anchor
[name_m]Farlee[/name_m]
You could also go with a ‘generic’ nickname, like [name_m]Buddy[/name_m], [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], [name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_u]Rocky[/name_u], [name_u]Prince[/name_u], [name_f]Zippy[/name_f], Captain/Cap, [name_u]Duke[/name_u]
[name_m]Feivel[/name_m]!
I really like [name_m]Farlee[/name_m] (or Farley)!
[name_u]Frannie[/name_u]
Ank
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]
This might be silly, but I like the idea of using a longer form of [name_m]Frank[/name_m] like [name_u]Francis[/name_u] or [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] as a nickname.
Cinque!
Lots of great suggestions here!
I’d also suggest Franklee, all one word, like the adverb. It’s kind of fun.
V (Roman numeral 5)
Nick(el)
Five-o
[name_m]Franco[/name_m] - this is actually my fave
[name_u]Franklin[/name_u]
2nding…
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]
[name_u]Liam[/name_u]
[name_m]Chip[/name_m]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_u]Nick[/name_u]
[name_u]Penn[/name_u]
Generic nicknames
Also…
Go UA style with it & just call him five.
This hasn’t been suggested yet (that I’ve seen), but call him a completely different name. Like, his name is [name_m]Frank[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] M_ V but you call him [name_u]Connor[/name_u] or something. I’ve seen this used, somewhere, where the kids name was like [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_m]Steven[/name_m] [name_m]Payne[/name_m], IV called [name_u]Carson[/name_u] or something similar.
I was called a completely different name growing up (Declan). Ended up being tricky once I got to high school.
Right now we are thinking about doing a generic nickname, [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Leo[/name_u], [name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_u]Quince[/name_u], or [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. Though is still completely up in the air!
You could call him [name_u]Levi[/name_u]. [name_u]Lee[/name_u] with the V coming from the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] numeral for five. Also, when you add the vowel “i” to make the second syllable VIE it sort of sounds like five.
I like the idea of [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] suggested above!
If you don’t end up finding any that you love, ending the tradition is an option. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband has a generational name, but we aren’t going to pass it on when we have a boy, even though many of his relatives also have generational names and might be disappointed. Of course, if you both want to continue it, that’s okay too, and I wish you luck I’m finding a great one
[name_m]Farlee[/name_m] is adorable!
…
[name_f]Flick[/name_f]
