Nickname for Adelaide

[name]Hi[/name]! I posted earlier about my girls names, it just brought up a question for me…

The names I am considering are [name]Flora[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name]. I’m not ready to downsize my list quite yet, but I am looking for suggestions on nicknames for [name]Adelaide[/name]. DH and I love it, but I REALLY don’t want the nickname [name]Addie[/name]!!!

So…

[name]Adelaide[/name] - no nickname

or

[name]Adelaide[/name] - nn - [name]Laidey[/name]

And… [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Addie[/name] is avoidable??

Thanks again!!

Mamapeach

I adore the nickname [name]Addie[/name]:)!!!I guess it can be avoidable you could always use a nickname like [name]Della[/name].

I love [name]Adelaide[/name] for all its possible nns I love [name]Addie[/name] but I think it is avoidable if you don’t like it. [name]Laidey[/name] is very cute but might not age well. What about [name]Ada[/name] or [name]Adele[/name] as a NN?

I love [name]Adelaide[/name]!

Re: nns - I personally like [name]Addie[/name] more than [name]Laidy[/name]. Other options could be [name]Della[/name], as previous comments, or [name]Dee[/name], Ads, Aidie? Or something that combines from her mn, initials etc.

I think that you could probably prevent friends and family using [name]Addie[/name], but as she gets older I think that it may crop up, unless you can instil in her a hatred for it!

If you name her [name]Adelaide[/name] call her [name]Laidey[/name], she’ll probably always go by that.

If you name her [name]Adelaide[/name] and call her [name]Adelaide[/name], her friends and extended family might select a nickname, or she might pick a nickname of her own, which could well be [name]Addie[/name]. So I would nickname her [name]Laidey[/name] if that’s what you prefer. dillonsfan01’s suggestions of [name]Ada[/name] or [name]Adele[/name] are also something you could consider, and edenlyla13’s suggestion of [name]Della[/name]. Also, there are the nicknames [name]Ade[/name], [name]Add[/name] or [name]Adela[/name].

PS I love all the names [name]Flora[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]!

Totally agree with this!

I love the name [name]Adelaide[/name].

I think you could use Lady or [name]Della[/name] or [name]Aide[/name] maybe even [name]Aida[/name]?

I think [name]Adelaide[/name] is a beautiful name! I’m not a fan of [name]Addie[/name] either - [name]Ada[/name] is is definitely my favorite nn for [name]Adelaide[/name].

I adore Lady! So sweet! [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Della[/name] are also nice.

[name]Ade[/name] -like aid
[name]Adee[/name]- Ay-dee both nice nn x

I think [name]Addie[/name] is avoidable. I have a friend [name]Adelaide[/name] that goes by [name]AD[/name] (ayy-dee) but I think [name]Laidy[/name], [name]Ada[/name], and [name]Adele[/name] also work!

If we’re having a girl, she will probably be [name]Adeline[/name] - and I’m thinking about the same issue: I’m really not a fan of [name]Addy[/name]/[name]Addie[/name]! I envision myself calling her [name]Dilly[/name] (for some reason, I’m not loving [name]Della[/name]), but we’ll see  [name]Dilly[/name] could be used for [name]Adelaide[/name] too, if you like it.

[name]Laidey[/name] seems very complicated, spelling it Lady would be better. It’s my preferred nickname for [name]Adelaide[/name] as well. [name]Addie[/name] is so obvious, a little harsh sounding and with all the Maddies running around it sort of lessens the beauty of [name]Adelaide[/name].

For another choice, a lot of people have suggested something that sounds like [name]AD[/name] but none have suggested the best way to spell it: [name]Adie[/name].
[name]Adie[/name] would be adorable ^^

I know like 10 different [name]Adelaide[/name]'s! Most of them have nicknames too! They go by [name]Elle[/name], [name]Addi[/name], [name]Ada[/name], [name]Della[/name], [name]Adel[/name], [name]Adee[/name]. [name]Hope[/name] that helps(:

I love the name [name]Adelaide[/name] it is an adorable name. Unfortunately in my lifetime the people who have it, don’t like it. Two of my friends had little sisters with the name, and they were both [name]Addie[/name]. It really was a cute nn though.

Another schoolmate I knew of went by [name]Amy[/name], which was a bit different. My Grandma went by [name]Dee[/name].
