What do you think about [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]? How would you pronounce [name_f]Adalie[/name_f]? [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lee, [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lie, [name_f]Ada[/name_f]-lee, [name_f]Ada[/name_f]-lie?
I would say [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] as add-uh-lee. It works fine as a nn but I don’t get it exactly as [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] are the same number of syllables and have basically the same sounds.
How about…
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_u]Dell[/name_u]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Delie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lady[/name_f]/Laidy
Adalie is very sweet! I would pronounce it something like ADD-uh-lee (basically rhyming with [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]). I think it works as a nn for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], although I agree with @Kipperbo1 that it’s maybe not quite intuitive because it’s the same length and similar sounding. I’m all for stretch nicknames if you love them though!
I’d pronounce [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] as uh-DAH-lee. I think it could work as a nickname for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but to me it feels like a totally separate name of its own.
I like [name_f]Lady[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]! (On a random note, I named a stuffed animal kangaroo that when I was in third grade!)
I know a few, actually, and they have the nicknames Laida and [name_f]Addie[/name_f] ([name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Addy[/name_f]/Addi. I honestly don’t know).
However, I love [name_f]Adalie[/name_f], and would pronounce it add-uh-lee.
I’m not a fan of three syllable nicknames, they lose their nickname-y feel imo. I like [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f] for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] is so sweet! I pronounce it [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lee. I think it I had a little [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] I would call her [name_f]Aidy[/name_f].
