Nickname for Agatha

So, we’re seriously considering [name]Agatha[/name], but the nickname [name]Aggie[/name] kills it for us. We live in [name]Texas[/name] and are not A&M fans. What other nickname would work? We like the name [name]Agnes[/name] as well, but it has the same awful nickname.

Thanks for any help!

I have considered [name]Hattie[/name] or the even rarer, cuter [name]Hatsy[/name]! I think it works cuz you have the name ending in “ha” and you sort of just transmute the t and there you go! (I don’t like [name]Aggie[/name] that much either)

I like both of those nicknames, but they don’t seem to really match up with [name]Agatha[/name]. My first daughter’s name is [name]Beatrix[/name] and her nickname is [name]Bix[/name]. I guess I’m looking for something a little more spunky, since [name]Agatha[/name] is a rather serious name.

For instance, we were considering [name]Twila[/name]/[name]Twyla[/name] and thought the nickname Twink was cute. For some reason people really don’t like [name]Twila[/name]/[name]Twyla[/name] and I don’t want to give her a name that will be hard on her.

I love [name]Agatha[/name]! I’m an [name]Aggie[/name] fan myself, but if you’re not maybe [name]Atha[/name] ([name]AH[/name]-tha) would work? Or maybe Gats?

Ooh…I like Gats!

I honestly can’t think of any nn that is really adorable for [name]Agatha[/name]. Gattie would be my best venture, and maybe it would grow on me in the long run, but I’m not sure how I feel about it having just thought of it. I’m a Texan, too, and [name]Aggie[/name] has definite associations. (Not an A&M fan. )

I know what you mean. I feel like we might need to consider some other names. Ugh…

I had a friend at university whose went by the nn Ath, and while her fn wasn’t [name]Agatha[/name], all the letters are there, so it might work? Then again, Ath might not be the best idea to go by while in school because of some fairly easy teasing opportunities with the nn’s sound…

For the record though, I like [name]Twila[/name]/[name]Twyla[/name]. It sounds nice with [name]Beatrix[/name] too.

Well, thank you. I’ve been told it sounds “backwoods” or ethnic. [name]How[/name] rude!

No ideas for [name]Agatha[/name], but for [name]Agnes[/name], how about [name]Nessa[/name]? You could also pick a middle name or use initials that lend itself to a nickname you like.

I know a gorgeous girl called [name]Agatha[/name] with the nickname Aga. I think it works well.

I like [name]Agatha[/name] and [name]Agnes[/name]… I think my favorite nickname for [name]Agatha[/name] would be [name]Agie[/name] or A.G. prn… A.G. =p

A few others:
[name]Gatsby[/name]
Gatta
Ags
[name]Ace[/name]
Tag, Tags or Taggy
[name]GiGi[/name]
[name]Hattie[/name]
Hatha

I like [name]Twyla[/name] as well, the only association I have is with Twilight… which SORT of ruins it for me… but sorta doesn’t… I am undecided! lol

Some other starry names:
[name]Starla[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Astra[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name]
[name]Aster[/name]
[name]Hester[/name]
[name]Esther[/name]

Those are some good ones. Thank you!

I actually associate [name]Twila[/name] with the song Twilight by [name]Elliott[/name] [name]Smith[/name], which I love. [name]Astrid[/name] and [name]Aster[/name] were on our list too, but there was some resistance to both. In the end, she’s our girl, I just don’t want to choose a name that will be hard on her.
