So I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_u]August[/name_u]. I also love [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], and [name_m]Augustine[/name_m]. But I really don’t like any of the immediate nicknames people come up with…[name_u]Gus[/name_u] or [name_m]Augie[/name_m]. I’m afraid if I end up with a son named [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], he’ll automatically get a nickname I don’t really like. So, what nicknames can you berries come up with? 
I also really love [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] but not [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] as much. I don’t care for [name_m]Augie[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] much as nicknames either so I was pretty creative with coming up with a nickname. I happen to love the combo [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (not currently in my top 5 as I prefer [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m]) which gives the initials [name_m]AXL[/name_m] so I would use the nickname [name_m]Axl[/name_m], which I think is really cool.
Could you use potential middle names to come up with a nickname using initials? It could be AJ, [name_m]ACE[/name_m], [name_m]AXL[/name_m], [name_u]ASA[/name_u] or something along those lines, for example, [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] etc.
I prefer [name_u]August[/name_u] or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] over [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] as it would probably be shortened to [name_u]August[/name_u] by people who think it’s too long. The only other nicknames I could think of would be [name_f]Tiny[/name_f], which no guy would like and [name_m]Gust[/name_m] which may be misheard as [name_u]Gus[/name_u].
A word of warning, kids will often “pick” their preferred nickname. My aunt was adamant that my cousin [name_u]Chris[/name_u] be called [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] but he preferred [name_u]Chris[/name_u]. Same with my best friend [name_u]Alex[/name_u], his mom wanted him to be [name_m]Xander[/name_m] which he hates with a passion.
Middle names for any name I would use is [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u]. So [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u], [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u]. I know the flow isn’t the best but no matter what name I end up using (whether it’s and Aug- name or not) for my future children those will be the middles 
(I won’t be having kids for probably another 6 - 10 years sadly…haha)

And I understand he might just end up liking a nickname on his own. Which is fine. But when he’s a baby he has no choice!!

xredd, the first thing I thought of when I saw the middles was [name_m]Ace[/name_m], then I realized you asked about it. It makes sense to me! I don’t think it would be the first thing people would go to unless they heard it before the full name, but I think it’s an adorable nn.

I don’t know how you feel about taking nns from the middles. You could use [name_m]Anders[/name_m] or [name_u]Andy[/name_u] from [name_m]Anderson[/name_m].
Some of these are a big stretch, but one of the zodiac signs in the month of [name_u]August[/name_u] is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and I believe onyx is one of the gemstones. With [name_u]August[/name_u] being the 8th month, maybe a fun way of saying 8? Italian is [name_m]Otto[/name_m], although it sounds more like Ottu on forvo.
I also love [name_m]Ace[/name_m]! What about…[name_m]Gust[/name_m] or Tuss? I agree it’s hard to find a good nickname…I do adore [name_u]August[/name_u], though.
