[name]Hi[/name] Nameberries! I need some advice and I know this is the place to get it. We recently had a daughter and named her [name]Cordelia[/name]. We love the name, but are always getting asked what we call her for short (why is that?). We really just call her [name]Cordelia[/name], but I think we need to settle on a nickname soon before one is decided for her. We would hate it if people starting calling her [name]Cordie[/name] / [name]Cordy[/name]. Our son seems to prefer [name]Delia[/name] - but that’s probably b/c he’s only 2 and he just pronounces the last syllables of a lot of words.
We love [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Delia[/name] - but can’t quite nail it down between those. What do you think - which nickname is better: [name]Cora[/name] or [name]Delia[/name]?
I like how [name]Cora[/name] sounds better. But I think most people would naturally say [name]Delia[/name]. I was writing a story and I used [name]Cordelia[/name] and I noticed I called her [name]Delia[/name] naturally. And I think it might be easier since your son uses [name]Delia[/name] already.
I adore [name]Delia[/name]! [name]Cora[/name] is so bleh to me especially when she has a fabulous full name like [name]Cordelia[/name]! That being said if you don’t really have a nickname for her maybe she doesn’t need a nickname.
I think [name]Delia[/name] or [name]Dia[/name] sound more original; there are lots more girls going by [name]Cora[/name] than by [name]Delia[/name], and I agree that it is more natural.
I really adore [name]Cordelia[/name], and i think it’s nice enough without a nickname. I think [name]Delia[/name] comes more naturally, but I love [name]Cora[/name] as a nickname and it would be my first choice. I think [name]DeeDee[/name] would be quite sweet as well.
[name]Cordelia[/name] is lovely! I prefer [name]Cora[/name] in general, but I think it’d be easier to go from [name]Cordelia[/name] to just [name]Delia[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think either one fits her better? [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Delia[/name] both have very different images to me.
