I’m trying to think of a cute nickname for [name]Garrett[/name] and trying to avoid anything similar to [name]Gary[/name]. Not that he’d really go by, but just a nice pet name for a Mother to call her son. Any suggestions?
[name]Rhett[/name]?
[name]Bear[/name] (from [name]Gare[/name] [name]Bear[/name]?)
[name]Rhett[/name] was my first idea, too. Maybe [name]Ari[/name]? It’s quite popular on girls lately, but I’ve been hearing of [name]Ari[/name] on boys more and more lately. I think it’s much more appealing than [name]Gary[/name].
Good luck!
Agree with [name]Rhett[/name]! Very cute.
My brother’s name is [name]Garrett[/name] and we have always just called him “[name]Gare[/name]” as in Care w/ a G for a nickname. I agree [name]Gary[/name] would not be an ideal nickname for anyone!
[name]Love[/name] [name]Rhett[/name].
Definitely [name]Rhett[/name]!
I agree with [name]Rhett[/name]!
So this is a pretty late reply, but here is some inside the scoop information from someone named [name_m]Garrett[/name_m].
When I was in 5th grade, my Mom tried to call me [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], but I quickly turned her down. I went to a small high school, so it was not hard for me to know that there were a total of 7 [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] or [name_m]Garret[/name_m]'s in highschool during my senior year. Four of which were in my grade (including myself). During that year, all 4 of us happened to be in the same study period, and one day we ended up talking about nicknames. Coincidentally, all 4 of us said that our Moms tried to call us [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], but none of us liked it. We all agreed that [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] wasn’t a bad name in itself, but we all didn’t like it as a nickname. We talked about it a little more, and concluded that the reason we didn’t like it was because we all liked our names “[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]”, and the core of a name is the beginning of such name. So when you take the “[name_m]Gare[/name_m]” out of “[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]”, it doesn’t feel like our names anymore. [name_m]Even[/name_m] Ehrrett wasn’t liked much because it didn’t have our signifying “G” in it (and at that point its not really a nickname). We joked about how we hated “[name_u]Gary[/name_u]” as well, because it sounded like an old man’s name, but we still would prefer [name_m]Gare[/name_m]-bear, or [name_m]Gare[/name_m], over [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. Of course [name_m]Gare[/name_m]-bear would’ve been for friends more so than a mom. After that discussion I asked two of the other [name_m]Garret/name_m’s in the halls about it for curiosity if they liked the nickname [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], and the same grossed out look developed on their faces. My mom did call me “Gt” for a while (First and last letter of [name_m]Garrett[/name_m]), and still calls me that every so often, and I don’t mind that at all, but I secretly still like “[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]” better.
Like I said, I came from a smaller school, so it could have been a coincidence that we didn’t like the nickname, there are probably plenty of [name_m]Garrett[/name_m]'s that do like the nickname “[name_m]Rhett[/name_m]”. Heck, I had one [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] that I didn’t ask at my school that could have liked the name. However, based off strictly my experiences, we like our name “[name_m]Garret/name_m”
Rett / [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] would be cute.
