DH loves [name]Hermione[/name]…I do like the pronounciation in English but being a french national am not sure i will be able to sell it to family across the pond.
Anyway…since you are all sooo brilliant with name ideas, i thought you might be able to give me some nice nn that might help selling it to French side of Family ?!
Thanks for those suggestions…I do like [name]Mimi[/name]!
[name]Hermione[/name] in French does not sound half as pretty as in English.
[name]Hermione[/name] : (hair-me-on) french prnounciation
Edited to add: I just noticed this is a really old thread! I wonder what op chose
I live in [name_f]France[/name_f] and I see what you mean. Would you want people from your family to try for a more [name_f]English[/name_f] style (something like Hermaïonie), or would you lean into the [name_u]French[/name_u] version? If the latter, maybe [name_u]Mio[/name_u] (pronounced in [name_u]French[/name_u], mee-yoh) as a nickname?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]? I think it works well in both languages, and has a similar origin/sound. (For non-French speakers it is pen-nay-lope—ay as in hay, lope as in elope).
