We’ve got our second on the way, and have really fallen in love with Holland as a name if it’s a girl.
The only issue is that I really dislike Holly as a nickname…which seems to be the obvious choice.
I know there’s no need for a nickname, but both our families are the type to make one up anyway so I’d like to have one in place that we like so that we can hopefully head off the Holly idea. Any suggestions?

To be completely honest, if she’ll end up with a nickname it’s probably going to be [name_u]Holly[/name_u] - if you don’t start using it yourself (which I feel like a lot of parents do even if they didn’t like the nickname to begin with just because it’s so intuitive) or her older sibling or even herself eventually refers to her as [name_u]Holly[/name_u], expect it to come up once she enters school.
Having said that, Landie or [name_u]Lennie[/name_u] feel like the only other intuitive nicknames that could end up sticking.
[name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Lala[/name_f], [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Lana[/name_f], of course any pet names you give her in time, Halls, [name_u]Lyn[/name_u]
Probably some repeats, but first one that came to mind were:

(I must admit that I do agree with other commenters that the nickname [name_u]Holly[/name_u] might creep in inevitably, from friends etc… although I think it’s a lovely botanical name!)

But one I like even more (it came to me right after) would be [name_f]Lani[/name_f].
From [name_u]Holland[/name_u], Holls, [name_f]Lindy[/name_f], [name_u]Lan[/name_u], [name_u]Harley[/name_u], [name_f]Honey[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Andi[/name_f] is a gorgeous name.

I think, unfortunately, that if people want to call her [name_u]Holly[/name_u] they will do so.
