We’re expecting another baby in [name_u]Jan[/name_u] 2018, and we’re combing through family genealogy to find unique name ideas. Recently, we found the name [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. I love the way the full name sounds, but the only nicknames I can think of are [name_m]Ken[/name_m] or [name_m]Kenny[/name_m]…which I’m not a fan of.
Any berries have ideas for other nicknames for [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] that aren’t too far of a stretch?
Thanks!
[name_u]Elm[/name_u]? [name_f]Nell[/name_f]? All I hear is “kennel” when I say the name aloud…
[name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] is great! But yes, nicknames are tricky… I suspect that you might end up with a [name_m]Kenny[/name_m] despite your best efforts.
Still, I like [name_u]Elm[/name_u] or Kel as other options - just not sure they’d stick.
[name_u]Kay[/name_u] (alternatively, the letter K) or [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], maybe? [name_u]Kim[/name_u], [name_m]Kent[/name_m], & Kez could work - for some reason Kez feels very instinctive, though it doesn’t have the S or Z sound.
[name_m]Elmo[/name_m] & [name_m]Nemo[/name_m] also spring to mind.
You could additionally go down the initials route - K.I.M, K.I.T, K.O.N, K.A.L, K.A.S, K.I.P, K.O.L, or something like [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] “KJ” or [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] “KB”. Seems very logical to me - a lot of people seem to go by AJ for an A name.
[name_m]Kem[/name_m] or Kel? [name_u]Neil[/name_u], [name_m]Len[/name_m] or [name_m]Mac[/name_m] may be too much stretch?
I know a [name_m]Keith[/name_m] who goes by [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] - it’s a very cheeky nickname for a guy who’s comfortable with his sexuality/masculinity - and I think [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] could go by [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] too. I wish [name_m]Elmo[/name_m] wasn’t so strongly associated with the [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_m]Street[/name_m] character, as it’s a cute, zippy/jaunty kind of name.
I’ve puzzled over this as there’s a [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] on my family tree too (married to a [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]!) - I wish I had something better for you!
This is thrilling b/c I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m].
I would name a son that and call him [name_u]Elm[/name_u]. I like tree names for males.
