Full names are [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Should they be [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] and Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] (I like this as it’s a less common than nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]) or [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]? For some reason I don’t like the sound of [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and Ted together. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
I would pick [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is one of my favorite names!
I’m not a huge fan of Ted or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but I do understand your concern with [name_u]Theo[/name_u]'s popularity. What about [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Thor[/name_m], or [name_u]Rory[/name_u]?
It may be a stretch, but I’ve actually always loved the nickname [name_u]Lou[/name_u] for [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]. [name_u]Lou[/name_u] & Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] would be so cute!
I do like [name_m]Lars[/name_m] & [name_u]Theo[/name_u] a lot, too, but I understand the hesitation with [name_u]Theo[/name_u]'s popularity rising.
I might actually call a little [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] of my own “Lor” or “[name_m]Law[/name_m]” (depending on how you pronounce [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] in your dialect) - that’s just how I naturally tend to shorten names though! For instance, our dog’s racing name was [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] [name_f]Judy[/name_f], so I always call her Roo or Judes.
I love [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]! Personally not a big fan of Ted/ [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and I also feel like the imbalance between the names (the long, formal name [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] paired with the cuddly nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]) would seem off to me.
If you decide you really do prefer Ted or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] to [name_u]Theo[/name_u], though, but don’t feel like it goes with [name_m]Lars[/name_m], maybe you would like [name_m]Lawrie[/name_m], [name_u]Ren[/name_u], [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] or [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] (a traditional nickname for [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] as far as I understand).
I love [name_m]Lars[/name_m] & [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]! I personally really love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] & [name_u]Ren[/name_u] would be cute too.
Oh, and I’m sure you have already realized this yourself, but one of the main characters in [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women is named [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] and is called [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. This association is AWESOME to me and does not detract from your choice whatsoever, I just wanted to make sure you are aware 
[name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a really nice nickname for [name_u]LawRENce[/name_u]!
If this is for real live children I’d wait and see what nicknames come naturally. They both have such great possibilities. I love names that are rich with nickname potential because it’s so fun to see what ends up fitting their budding personalities.
If I had to chose ahead of time my favorites are probably [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Are you a big fan of little women or are these names together just a coincidence?

I’m gonna go against the tide here and say I really don’t like [name_m]Lars[/name_m]. So [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] gets my vote (however I also really love [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] as a nn for [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] so [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] & [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] would be my top vote)
