So our top choice for our upcoming baby girl was [name]Eliza[/name], nn [name]Ellie[/name], but one of our close friends just named her baby [name]Eliza[/name]
Now I am looking at alternatives and I do like the name [name]Phoebe[/name] (maybe [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Kate[/name])? The only problem I have with the name is that it sounds a little like āfeebleā to me and hence I donāt really like the nn Feebs. Are there any other nicknames you can think of for [name]Phoebe[/name]? Or does it not need one?
Our son is named [name]Duncan[/name] and (so far) his main nickname is Pupsā¦
I donāt think [name]Phoebe[/name] really needs a nickname, but I understand wanting to have options to shorten/endearā¦other thoughts:
Pho (like noodle soup?)
Phee/[name]Fee[/name]
Ebby
[name]Puck[/name] or P.K. or some play on [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Kate[/name]'s initials, even something like Pix or [name]Pixie[/name] gets at the PK for me (and is rather sweet).
I really like the name [name]Phoebe[/name] and I think it goes perfectly with [name]Duncan[/name]. I agree it doesnāt really need a nickname but I love the suggestion of [name]Bea[/name].
I share the above opinions that [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is fantastic, [name]Phoebe[/name] doesnāt NEED a nn, but if you want one [name]Bea[/name] or [name]Pixie[/name] are adorable, and both the full name and nick name potential sounds great with big brother! [name]Kinda[/name] sounds like youāre on the right track
[name]One[/name] of My best Friends has a daughter named [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Christine[/name]. Everyone calls her [name]Bee[/name] or Bumble ( she is at that ageā¦ she falls down a lot But I always tell people not to stress about nnās . If the name readily offers one, use it, if not you will come up with something. Nicknames that develop naturally often have great stories behind them and more meaning than the general nicknames that are just short for a longer name. My sister, [name]Grace[/name], is often referred to as [name]Lou[/name] or [name]Tilla[/name]. They are nicknames that just came up along the way!
As you know from your little āPupsā-- nicknames often arise organically. I thought I might call my son, [name]Antoine[/name], ā[name]Ace[/name]ā before he was born-- but heās āTanty.ā
[name]Phoebe[/name] is sunny and sweet and does not need a childhood nickname to lighten it. You received some wonderful suggestions above, in the form of [name]Pixie[/name] and [name]Bea[/name]. I also like [name]Pip[/name], [name]Bibi[/name], and [name]Flip[/name].
I have a [name]Phoebe[/name] and love the name but there is no natural nn for it, one of the main reasons I chose it!
If you liked [name]Eliza[/name], what about [name]LIZA[/name]? I like this name so much better actually.
Another interesting name in the [name]Phoebe[/name] vein is the Irish [name]Fianna[/name] pronounced ā[name]Fee[/name] - Naā. [name]Love[/name] it! Then you could get the ā[name]Fee[/name]ā sound too!
