I really, REALLY love Winnie, but can’t use it as my partner’s eldest daughter is Winnifred and goes by Winnie. I don’t feel I can just call her Rowena as that’s my mom’s name and conversations might get a little confusing. Ro has been suggested but I’m not into it.
So I’ve narrowed it down to 2 nicknames I like but I’m not sure.
Any cute, quirky, and feminine suggestions I may not have thought of are also welcome in the comments.
You could use [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] as a nn, or even Ena/Ina (pronounced ee-na). I think [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] could also be a possibility, if you’re into that. [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] just brought [name_u]Nana[/name_u] to mind, which is fairly cute.
I voted for [name_u]Wren[/name_u], but I heard of a [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] who goes by [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] (starting with the nickname [name_f]Ro[/name_f], and adding sie, so it kind of makes sense). Both of your options are really great, I just thought I’d bring this up.
We pronounce it like ro-ee-na. I really like the Ro-wen-uh pronunciation but I’m naming her after my mom who pronounces it the other way so that’s what we’re doing as well.
Let me begin by saying that I met someone about 30 years ago with this name and have absolutely LOVED it ever since.
I like the nickname [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. To make the nickname fit better I would suggest using a middle name beginning with the letter S. [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] clearly has the first syllable RO and with a middle name beginning with S it make the nickname [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] more understandable.
For instance……
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosy[/name_f]
R0wena [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
I suppose you could do the same type of thing to make nicknames like [name_u]Romy[/name_u] or Rory….
R0wena [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
R0wena [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you find this helpful. Good luck with your decision.
