My SO really loves the name [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]…and I like it, but I really can’t stand [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] or [name_f]Tori[/name_f] as nicknames.
I was trying to come up with some other nicknames that I could live with. [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] fits our “style,” it’s just the two most common nicknames that I don’t like.
My fiance said the same thing, but I feel like it’s one of those names that naturally gets shortened. I have really negative experiences with [name_f]Tori[/name_f] (the curse of being a teacher :p) and just plain don’t like [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]
I also thought [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]/Vivy could work as a nickname. I really like the suggestion of [name_f]Via[/name_f] as well!
I love the name [name_f]Victoire[/name_f] (victory in [name_m]French[/name_m]) and I think it would make an exciting, unexpected nickname to [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]!
Another one could be [name_u]Tora[/name_u].
It’s interesting you say that, because I’ve known a number of Victorias and most of them didn’t have a nickname. I’ve met one who went by [name_f]Tori[/name_f], and I know a [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] who’s just [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], not short for anything, but [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] definitely isn’t a “must have a nickname” name to me.
If you want her to have one though, my favourite is [name_f]Vika[/name_f] (either vee-kah or vick-ah).
[name_f]Ria[/name_f] and [name_u]Tora[/name_u] are lovely. [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], [name_f]Vicki[/name_f] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f] were so overdone, and ruin a classy name.
I generally call all [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]'s I know [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] unless I’m told otherwise. [name_u]Vic[/name_u] and [name_f]Ria[/name_f] are the most common nicknames other than [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f]. Depending on the middle name, the middle can be incorporated too, I have a friend called [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Vira[/name_f].
