Is Vinny an odd choice for nickname for Vivian? My husband hates Vivi and when I hear just Viv, I think of aunt Viv from Fresh Prince. I was wondering if Vinny or V would be odd nicknames for Vivian or if they’d still be somewhat intuitive?
I think [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] is a great, if unexpected, idea! [name_f]My[/name_f] usual test for a sound-based nickname is to consider whether the nickname could be a sibling’s “easier sound” for the child’s full name (i.e. [name_f]Bridgie[/name_f] for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] for Logan). I think the strong “v” and “n” sounds in [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] make [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] a great option!
Unexpected not odd
Oh my gosh, [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] is so sweet! I’ve never thought of that for a nickname for [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], but I really like it. It’s definitely unexpected, but would totally work. A friend of my mum’s is a [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], and she’s usually called [name_u]Van[/name_u], [name_u]Vanny[/name_u] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. Like [name_u]Vinny[/name_u], also unexpected (and sorta stretchy) nicknames, but she never gets any odd reactions or mix ups. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
Unexpected and spot on!
I think Vinny is fun. And with a similarity to Winnie it would be unexpected but familiar
I love [name_m]Vin[/name_m] and [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] for [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] !!
I think [name_f]Vi[/name_f] could work too !!
I usually go with [name_f]Vi[/name_f] or Vie pronounced like the word ‘eye’ with a V at the front.
[name_u]Vinny[/name_u] and V make perfect sense to me
[name_u]Vinny[/name_u] is super cool! V is great too
i like vinny! i don’t think it’s odd at all. and v is cool too!
oh vinny is cute! i never would have considered her as an option, but i think it’s a really great choice. it seems pretty intuitive to me <3
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
Sounds like Finny.
NN [name_m]Five[/name_m]?
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] nn [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] is so cute!! If I heard it irl, my immediate response would be “Oh I love that!”
