I’ve seen [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] before. Makes sense to me, but it’s definitely less intuitive than [name_f]Callie[/name_f].
Makes about as much sense as [name_m]Dick[/name_m] for [name_m]Richard[/name_m], [name_f]Peg[/name_f] for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], Bitty for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f] for [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_m]Ned[/name_m] for [name_m]Edward[/name_m]… It’s by no means intuitive but I think it works okay.

It definitely is one of those that has been floating around the forums for long enough that it now feels completely normal to me. I don’t know whether that is desensitization or whether it truly is intuitive but yeah, it definitely works for me!
I think it works! If you can get [name_f]Polly[/name_f] from [name_f]Mary[/name_f] you should be able to get [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] from Callliope.

Someone with Greek background can correct me, but I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is the traditional Greek nickname for [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]!
And even if it’s not, I think it makes a great nickname for [name_f]Calliope[/name_f].
It works, I think, but if you used it, it would end up being what she went by most of the time.

This is correct! Pretty much all the Greek Calliopes I know go by [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]/Popi. I think it makes a sweet nn.

The only [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] I’ve known went by [name_f]Popi[/name_f] (POPE-ee not [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]), which I believe is the original Greek nickname. So I totally think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] works!
I like poppy on its own. Super cute.
It works, but I think that most people would just call her [name_f]Callie[/name_f].
