Hello! Need help with a sweet nickname for baby girl. When you see the name Avie…would you pronounce it Ah-vee or Ay-vee?

Same goes for Avi…how do you think this might be pronounced?

I’d assume [name_f]Avie[/name_f] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] were both ay-vee.

For ah-vee, I’d find Avvy, Ahvi, or Auvi more intuitive, though they do look a bit clunky.

I defaulted to ay-vee for [name_f]Avie[/name_f] and ah-vee for [name_u]Avi[/name_u]

To me, both are pronounced ah-vee.

Depends what it’s short for really, but [name_f]Avie[/name_f] would probably be Ay-vee and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] would be ah-vee

I’m in the U.S. and read [name_f]Avie[/name_f] as Ay-vee (ay rhyming with Jay) and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] as Ahh-vee

I’d assume Avie was ay-vee and Avi was ahh-vee, the latter probably because I’ve encountered it mostly as a Sanskrit name?

I would say it as (ay-VEE).

a secondary pronunciation I’d probably go with is (av-EE) like [name_u]Avi[/name_u]

i would say avie as AY-vee (first syllable rhymes with jay) but avi as AH-vee (first syllable uses the a in father) - i prefer avie both spelling and pronunciation-wise !!

I’d pronounce Avie like Ay-vee (like Avery without the middle part), and Avi like ah-vee — I know a boy named Avi who pronounces it like this.

I would probably assume ay-vee for both, unless I knew the name that it was a nickname for. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if I was corrected to ah-vee.
