We have talked about [name_u]Everett[/name_u] with the nickname [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. But his grandfather, uncle, and cousin are named Emitt and we don’t want that connection.
Is [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] a stretch?
Other suggestions?
I don’t think [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is too close to Emitt, but is there a reason you can’t just use [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]? Since you’re planning to call him that anyway?
Meritt is a bit of a stretch for me, but probably just because I don’t really like it as much as [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_m]Rhett[/name_m].
There’s also [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], but I don’t like those either.
Agree 100% with previous poster. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] isn’t too close to Emitt. [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] on it’s own is totally usable (and I love the name/nickname!). Meritt I don’t like as much. [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] feels dated, [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] reminds me of the clips little girls put in their hair and is my friend’s LN. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] is the way to go.
I like just plain [name_m]Rhett[/name_m].

[name_m]Just[/name_m] use [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. It is a great choice.
I don’t think that [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and Emitt are all that similar. However you could just use [name_m]Rhett[/name_m].
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] isn’t that much of a stretch, but I’ve always loved plain old [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. There’s also [name_u]Brett[/name_u] if you’re looking for other options.
I worried [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] was too Gone with the Wind…but maybe not?
I agree with the ones saying [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is not too close to Emitt and also suggesting [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as the full name. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] are both very handsome names.
