A major reason my SO and family like the name [name_f]Cora[/name_f] for a little girl is because of the nickname [name_u]Corey[/name_u]. I love this name, and it’s on my shortlist.
However, I adore the name [name_f]Selina[/name_f] or [name_f]Selena[/name_f]. I’m more drawn to the “i” spelling, but that’s for another topic.
Recently, my SO and I mentioned [name_f]Selina[/name_f]/[name_f]Selena[/name_f], and though everyone likes the name, the possibility of nickname [name_f]Lina[/name_f]/[name_f]Lena[/name_f] came up. Not that I dislike the nickname, but it got me thinking about the possibility of a less common nickname, one with the same spunk as [name_u]Corey[/name_u].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think “[name_f]Essie[/name_f]” (as the first letters would be ‘S’ and "e’) would work as a nickname? Should I double down on this by giving her a middle that starts with an ‘E’? Or even a ‘C’?
Thanks in advance!
I prefer Cora “Corey” over Selena “Essie.” I can see how “Essie” could work as a nickname, but it seems a bit of a stretch.

Another nickname could be Ci-Ci
I’m in the camp that nicknames don’t have to be all that related (if related at all) to the full name. But [name_f]Essie[/name_f] from [name_f]Selina[/name_f] doesn’t feel like a stretch anyway—I think any S-E- name can naturally shorten to [name_f]Essie[/name_f]. If you’re still unsure, then yes, going with an E middle would help (more so, I think, than a C middle).
I also like [name_m]Seely[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_f]Selina[/name_f].
If you give a middle name starting with an E, I would just spell the nickname SE like SE Cupp does. I also think this spelling is spunkier than “[name_f]Essie[/name_f]”
I prefer [name_f]Selena[/name_f]/[name_f]Selina[/name_f] “[name_f]Essie[/name_f]” to [name_f]Cora[/name_f] “[name_u]Corey[/name_u]”
I also like the suggestion of using an E middle name
If you spelled it as [name_f]Selena[/name_f], I think it would feel a bit better being ‘[name_f]Essie[/name_f]’. Cute nickname though, and I think however you spell it, it should work just it would look a little better as [name_f]Selena[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Selina[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Selina[/name_f] “[name_f]Essie[/name_f]” works just fine, and I definitely prefer it to [name_f]Cora[/name_f] “[name_u]Corey[/name_u]”. I love [name_f]Essie[/name_f] as a nickname!
