Personally, I would say that if you have name regret you should change her name. She’s still a baby and doesn’t recognize it, so it will be a lot less hassle than if you still don’t love her name 5 years from now and want to change it then.
Nicknames for [name_f]Martina[/name_f]: [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Tina[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], M/[name_f]Em[/name_f]? (as in the first letter of [name_f]Martine[/name_f])
You could also get [name_f]Dee[/name_f]/[name_f]DeeDee[/name_f] from [name_f]Denise[/name_f], but it might be a bit annoying for her when she’s older to go by a nickname of her middle name.
Great ideas above!
A few more:
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_u]Deni[/name_u]
[name_f]Tia[/name_f]
Tee
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
I always like [name_u]Marti[/name_u] for [name_f]Martine[/name_f] (Smarti when she’s little).
I know a 6-year-old [name_f]Martina[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Mari[/name_f]
[name_u]Marty[/name_u]
[name_f]Tina[/name_f]
Oooh I really like [name_f]Nina[/name_f]! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you really think it’s close enough?
I personally would go with [name_u]Mars[/name_u], but I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would totally work.
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Merry[/name_f]
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] / [name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mimi[/name_f]
[name_f]Marta[/name_f]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_m]Artie[/name_m]
[name_u]Dani[/name_u] / [name_f]Danni[/name_f] / Danii [from [name_f]Denise[/name_f]]
You could say some of these are a stretch, but if you’ve got set names down and can’t change them they might have to be. I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] could work - [name_f]Martina[/name_f] ends in the exact same -ina sound, and [name_f]Martine[/name_f] isn’t that far off - but some others might be more intuitive.
I used to know an [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] who was sometimes called [name_f]Zora[/name_f]- [name_f]Martine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nina[/name_f] isn’t much more of a stretch. And I’ve known a few people who went by nicknames completely unrelated to their real names at all. I don’t think it’s a problem- she’ll introduce herself as [name_f]Nina[/name_f] and people will just call her that regardless of what her full name is.
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] was the first possibility that came to mind-- it could honor both [name_f]Martina[/name_f] and [name_f]Denise[/name_f]. Another possibility that could work for both-- [name_f]Maris[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Mari[/name_f] too.
