I had fantastic folks respond to my previous thread about names that start with S, and fell in love with the idea of “[name_u]Sunny[/name_u]” as a nickname. Wondering if the kind community could offer names that will fit the bill? [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] was suggested, and I’d like to see if there are other options out there?
Ideally two-syllables, that feel like a good sibset with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m].
Hello hello, the [name_f]Sonora[/name_f]-suggester here. I too have always loved the idea of [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] as a nickname ([name_u]Sunny[/name_u] Baudelaire originally sparked the idea) and have searched far and wide for possibles. [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] is my personal favourite (there’s a [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] in a Disney movie about real-life historical figure about horse diving; there’s also a [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] in a story by [name_f]Gail[/name_f] [name_u]Carson[/name_u] Levine, which really made me fall in love with the name), but here are some others I have discovered:
There are also the noun-names ([name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f], Sunflower, Sunset, Sunrise, etc) but those aren’t my style.
Of all those, the only ones that sound familiar (which I think you requested in your other thread) are [name_f]Sondra[/name_f] and [name_f]Sonia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sonya[/name_f].
You could also use it fo rnames like [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f], [name_f]Soleil[/name_f], [name_f]Solange[/name_f], [name_f]Solene[/name_f], etc. If you REALLY wanted to, you could use [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] but I think those are a bit of a stretch.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] I know a girl who’s name is [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] (and that’s her full name) and a boy [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] (full name as well).
I know a girl named [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] :). I also really like [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Summer[/name_f]!
My favorite (I think) is [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. I think it’s so cute and classic! [name_f]Sonora[/name_f] doesn’t quite feel like a person name to me, but rather a place.
You may also like [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], which I think could totally be a [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. To me, [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] falls into a category of nicknames that don’t necessarily come from the proper name (i.e. [name_f]Honey[/name_f]). I think this was a bigger trend in the late 1800s/early 1900s but I’m all for bringing it back.
For instance, we have a grandmother in the family who was called [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] though her name was [name_f]Diamond[/name_f].
I love [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], my favorite full name is [name_f]Sonja[/name_f]/ [name_f]Sonia[/name_f]/ [name_f]Sonya[/name_f]
Another path to consider is son at the end of the name [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_m]Jason[/name_m], there are many.
