Nickname that is not close to first name?

Is it super crazy to call your child by a nickname that isn’t close to her first name? Back story - our daughter is a year old and I’ve just always felt like her name doesn’t’ match her. Also we had a hard time agreeing on her name in the first place and had some family drama. Anyway the name I feel like should be hers (and my husband really likes too) isn’t close to her name at all. Thoughts?

Her name is [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and I want to call her [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a family name but a distant cousin used it so I thought at the time I shouldn’t but really I wish I would have. Maybe I should juts move on and call her by her given name!?

I think it’s odd since [name_f]Lily[/name_f] isn’t in her name at all.

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] could be: [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] could be: [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rosette[/name_f], [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalinda[/name_f]. She could be… [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I would probably just call her [name_f]Rose[/name_f] if I were you.

She’s young enough though, that if you were going to call her [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I’d probably change her name to that officially.

Changing it completely would be an option although I think I would want her original name in there somewhere like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Emery[/name_u] XXXX but I’m not sure my husband is on board with that.

I think even just adding [name_f]Lily[/name_f] in somewhere would work.

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?

then you could calll her [name_f]Lily[/name_f] without it being weird at all.

Other [name_f]Lily[/name_f] options: [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilias[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about changing [name_u]Emery[/name_u] to [name_f]Emily[/name_f]? It feels like half [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and half [name_f]Lily[/name_f] to me.

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] is so adorable in my opinion. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I would try to find something that is a combo of [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so at least even if the nickname origin is stretching it a tad, it will at least be based off of her given name:

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]=

[name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_f]Meri[/name_f], [name_m]Rye[/name_m], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Myra[/name_f]/mera

[name_u]Remy[/name_u], [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] or [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] pronounced EMriss
