DH and I are strongly thinking about using [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] as the first name. It has a family connection for us, but we are trying to come up with nickname(s). What are your thoughts about [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]? Or any other suggestions?
I wouldn’t have thought of [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but I don’t see any reason why you can’t use it. It’s cute. [name_f]Lia[/name_f] is a nice one too. I’ve also heard [name_f]Mia[/name_f] (“Mee-ah”), [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], Meely, and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] before too.
[name_f]Lili[/name_f] is so cute for when she is young. And I had never even thought of [name_f]Molly[/name_f] as a nickname, but that is darling as well. Thank you both!
The only suggestion I have (besides [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lili[/name_f] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f], which I love!, and besides the others mentioned) is [name_f]Amie[/name_f]. Sort of pronounced like the [name_m]French[/name_m] word for “friend”, but not exactly–I remember meeting a little girl named [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Amie[/name_f] (almost like Mommy without the “M”) and [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] almost equally. I think [name_f]Amie[/name_f] is quite unexpected and yet still pretty cool.
[name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] II and [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] III of Great [name_m]Britain[/name_m] each had a daughter named [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] whom was nicknamed “[name_f]Emily[/name_f]” by the family
