Nicknames for Anton

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] baby brother’s name is [name_m]Anton[/name_m], he’s 28 and he finished dental school last year. Everyone in the family calls him [name_u]Angel[/name_u] but he seems to be a bit to old for that. He’s been asking for change. Any suggestions?

[name_m]Anton[/name_m] is a great name, but I do see how he could feel grown out of the nickname [name_u]Angel[/name_u].
Some ideas:
[name_u]Tony[/name_u], cute but mature
[name_m]Nino[/name_m], Could be a little young but I think it would work on an adult
Ante, I like it pronounced ON-TA
[name_m]Anthony[/name_m], not really a nn but could be used as one if he likes it better

Let me know what he thinks

My favorite is definitely [name_u]Tony[/name_u].

Thanks, we thought of [name_u]Tony[/name_u] but our mom doesn’t like it. She says it’s getto and my bro wants everyone to agree on a name. [name_m]Nino[/name_m] is really cute

That’s a shame; it’s difficult for everyone to agree on a name. (I also don’t see how it’s ghetto, but to each their own!)
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] is a feminine nickname, but it’s similar to [name_m]Anakin[/name_m] Skywalker’s nickname.

Don’t see how it’s ghetto either, but ghetto is mom’s favorite word. She said it ALL. THE. TIME. when we were kids and she still does.

[name_u]Andy[/name_u]'s nice but I feel like Ant is unoriginal. He also wouldn’t like it. He hates being the “youngest one” and wants us to consider him like a big boy :joy:. Yh, that’s not going to happen

Tony

Tonio

Maybe instead of [name_u]Tony[/name_u] he could be Ton or [name_m]Tonny[/name_m] (rhymes with “fawn”), like the last syllable of his name?
[name_u]Andy[/name_u] made me think of [name_m]Anders[/name_m], which shares the first two letters of his name. Also his full name [name_m]Anton[/name_m] is great on its own, so he could try to get people to start calling him that (but it IS nice to have a nickname you like!)
Does he have a middle name? Maybe he could work with that, or else you could try to figure out a nickname based on his last name, his hobbies, his job, etc.
Good luck and give us an update!

I love Ant! I think it sounds strong. Chr!stina [name_f]El[/name_f] Moussa married a guy she calls Ant.

What is wrong with calling him [name_m]Anton[/name_m]? . It is a short name.

I guess it’s bc we all have nicknames. I’m [name_f]Sonya[/name_f]
(my name is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]), my brother is [name_m]Wes[/name_m]/Wessypoo (his name is [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]), and [name_m]Anton[/name_m] is [name_u]Angel[/name_u], soo I guess maybe he just wants to fit in?

Ah, family pet names. We all have them.

Like Ant, here to suggest [name_u]Indy[/name_u]. Is it pronounced an-TAHN? If yes, [name_m]Tom[/name_m]/Tommy might work.
