Hubby vetoed [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] early on but I think [name_f]Aster[/name_f] might have a chance as the long-sought after name for baby #3 coming soon!
We are a very nicknamey family but what nickname options would she have?
We’re gonna have to be creative here… [name_f]Sisi[/name_f], [name_f]Star[/name_f], Ser, Az, Ez, [name_u]Ari[/name_u]? Could always end up being something completely unrelated, too, who knows. [name_f]Attie[/name_f]'s cute, though!
I hadn’t immediately thought of a possible @ss problem, only came to mind after I suggested Az, which would be ahz, I guess. I do know someone called that! Az, I mean. I don’t personally know any Astrids or company, only go as far as TV shows, sorry.
Hey, it may but it also may not be a problem, there’s no way of telling. Kids can be cruel and bullies will find anything to pick on, even in ‘normal’ names. [name_f]Aster[/name_f] is a great name, don’t you worry about that.
We find “[name_f]Asti[/name_f]” comes as a natural nickname for her. We’ve never had a problem with “@ss” as the emphasis isn’t really placed on the ‘a’ in that way. It’s not pronounced with an “ah” (as in father) sound. We also know a few cruel young boys and it hasn’t occurred to them.
We get many compliments on her name and we haven’t met or heard of many other Asters.
Also I’m a bit late to this post so probably not relevant anymore. But had to put my two cents in. What did you end up choosing?
I myself is [name_f]Aster[/name_f] .
I’m 21 and most people get to know my real name reacts because it sound like a boy’s name and I like it much better hearing about my name because it sounds unique .
I got my name from my adoptive mother , she used to love flower aster so much .
