[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,
This is my first post! My husband and I have settled on the name [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] for our baby girl due in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I have been thinking about nicknames and there are basically none for [name_f]Jane[/name_f] besides [name_f]Janie[/name_f] which I am not fond of.
This is not a huge deal, I was just wondering if any of you creative people could come up with nicknames for her using first, middle or both names!
I know that nicknames usually come naturally and may be based on characteristics she will have ect… I am just looking for some possibilities!
JJ could work
Probably a big stretch but in [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f], Mr [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] calls [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Janet[/name_f] and also [name_u]Sky[/name_u]-lark?
[name_f]Jeanie[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u], [name_f]Jennie[/name_f], [name_f]Jennet[/name_f] and [name_f]Janet[/name_f] are all traditonal nns for [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I also think [name_u]Jackie[/name_u] would work even though it’s traditionally for [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f]. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for [name_m]John[/name_m] suggests [name_u]Jackie[/name_u] for [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Also could you borrow from [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nns: [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_u]Joey[/name_u], [name_u]Josie[/name_u]?
My favourites, other than [name_f]Janey[/name_f] which I like, are [name_f]Jennet[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanie[/name_f].
I saw the name “[name_u]Jay[/name_u]” on a young lady’s nametag at JC [name_u]Penney[/name_u] the other day. I asked if it was her actual name or a nickname for something. She told me her full name was [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and that her Mom called her [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] when she was a baby after her love for a little stuffed blue bird. The “[name_u]Jay[/name_u]” just stuck and she even goes by just “[name_u]Jay[/name_u]” in college. I love it!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to say that [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a beautiful name! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t have nickname suggestions for you; though as a one-syllable name, it doesn’t actually need a nickname. As an aside, I always feel bothered when a name I like doesn’t have a good nickname; and then I remember that my three syllable name has no nicknames and that this had literally never bothered me.
