Nicknames for Eleanor?

Besides the usual [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f], are there any other nicknames for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? I want something more original, not the same old boring nicknames. All suggestions are welcome!

I called the [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] I knew [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and variants of that: Elsiebelle, [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] etc. I guess maybe [name_f]Lea[/name_f], at a push.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is really cute! I would have never thought of that adorable nickname! Keep the names coming!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Noor[/name_f]? It’s an Arabic name in its own right, and quite elegant, I think.

Yes, [name_f]Noor[/name_f] is especially elegant, @tina_and_bert! What a lovely suggestion! [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Noor[/name_f] are both wonderful nicknames for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]; are there any more?

Would [name_f]Nell[/name_f] be too common to use as a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] are very uncommon, [name_f]Noor[/name_f] especially, so is [name_f]Nell[/name_f] too normal?

My younger sister was on a ball team with a girl named [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] who simply went by E, which I always found quite cute.

[name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f]! I adore the idea of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. It’s both unusual and so sweet and feminine. There’s also [name_u]Norrie[/name_u], [name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Elea[/name_f], etc…

[name_f]Nella[/name_f].

Also [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

I’ve been called [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] at times. Also, Elsinore (after the castle in [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m]), but that’s kindof a joke more than a real nickname.

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] or [name_f]Nella[/name_f], as suggested above.

Yes! Lena (which I would pronounce LEE-nuh) is my favorite nn for Eleanor and what I’d use if I could ever convince my husband to use Eleanor. I also like Leni (which I would pronounce LEH-nee).

I am due with a girl in [name_f]April[/name_f] who will be [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I planned to use nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but I’m suddenly hearing the name everywhere. I guess I never paid much attention to it until now. I was just starting to wonder what alternative nn we could use besides [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], which I feel everyone will be inclined to say. I was thinking of [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is adorable, but when I say it, I think of the [name_u]Jodie[/name_u] [name_m]Foster[/name_m] movie. Can’t get that connection out of my head as I’ve never come across anyone named [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_m]IRL[/name_m]. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Leni[/name_f] above, but don’t love it.

Any thoughts on [name_f]Luna[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]?
The name [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] means [name_u]Bright[/name_u], shining one… [name_f]Luna[/name_f] (the moon) is bright & shining.

[name_f]Nellie[/name_f] is my favourite nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Although [name_f]Noor[/name_f] is a great suggestion!
