I love the name [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], but it’s bounced on and off my list for years because I just can’t come up with a nickname that I like. I’m sure it will be shortened if I use it, and so I would want to be the one to shorten it to avoid her being called something I really don’t like.
I’ve been suggested Cesca (either Chez-ka Ches-ka or Ses-ka) but I’m not a fan. [name_u]Fran[/name_u] is better but I don’t love that either.
My great grandmother was named [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and she went by [name_f]Frances[/name_f]… which might not be very exciting to most, but I love it.
Maybe [name_f]Chessie[/name_f]? Like the nanny in The Parent Trap?
There’s [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], which is cute, though I feel it works best for certain personalities of Miss [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. You could just do Eska which sounds pretty on its own. On my list, I personally have [name_f]Effie[/name_f]. It’s really not much of a stretch.
Other options:
[name_f]Essie[/name_f]
[name_f]Chessie[/name_f]
Fresca
[name_f]Chi[/name_f] [name_f]Chi[/name_f]
[name_f]Chia[/name_f]
[name_u]Frannie[/name_u]
I knew a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] who went by Cessy. I’m not sure if that is how she spelled it or if it was Cesi or what. But it was pronounced Cess-ee.
I read a book in middle school in which the main character, if I remember correctly, was named [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and was called [name_f]Kessa[/name_f] (hard K…similar to [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]). I think it was “The Best [name_m]Little[/name_m] Girl in the World”. I think she was called [name_f]Kessie[/name_f] too. Regardless, I really love either of those as a nn for [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. In fact, for years, I wanted to have a [name_f]Kessa[/name_f].
In real life, I know a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] who just goes by [name_u]Fran[/name_u] or [name_u]Frannie[/name_u]. Not my favorite names.
I love the nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] for [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. Very spunky! I also think [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Cece[/name_f], and [name_f]Francie[/name_f] are all usable
I went to high school with a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] who was nickname ChaCha by friends. She said her family called her [name_u]Fran[/name_u].
I liked the suggestions of…
[name_u]Fran[/name_u]/[name_u]Frannie[/name_u]
[name_f]Francie[/name_f]/[name_f]Fancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cece[/name_f]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f]- I prefer it as [name_f]Effy[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
All I could think of was…
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f]- A slight stretch.
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]- Another stretch, but it’s so sweet.
Chessa- Similar to Cesca, but with a Tessa twist.
Essa- Short and sweet.
[name_m]Chester[/name_m]- Maybe not as a full time nn, but still fun and cute.
