I like [name]Elle[/name]! I donāt hear this nn around here (U.S.āNew [name]England[/name]), just [name]Ella[/name]. My second choice would be [name]Abby[/name]!
Iām very flexible with nicknames. I know loads of people who have nicknames that have nothing to do with their name so I think [name]Gia[/name] really works! I like it.
[name]Gabrielle[/name] -
[name]Abby[/name]
[name]Allie[/name]
[name]Bea[/name]
[name]Belle[/name]
[name]Blair[/name] (if you pick out the letters)
[name]Bria[/name]
Gree
[name]Rea[/name]
Wow! Thanks for the feedback guys. I like that [name]Elle[/name] is not too common in New [name]England[/name] (I hope to live there in the next few years) and that [name]Gia[/name] could potentially work too. I also like [name]Allie[/name] and [name]Abby[/name]. Very cute.
And I really love [name]Belle[/name]! The only question is whether that extremely popular too. What do you think?
Hey! [name]Belle[/name] is my favorite! For what itās worth, I went to camp with a [name]Gabrielle[/name] when I was growing up, and I called her āGabrie,ā and I thought that may be an option for you.
A [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] struggling with nicknames here haha! Some other options:
Gigi - just reminds me of eyeliner and Parisan cafes! Lily (or is this too muchof a stretch?) Gaelle - aesthetically so pretty, but not v. plausible as a nn for [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] imo due to pronunciation issues. but i couldnāt help but consider this sometimes!
[Rhaella](http://wwwnameberry.com/babyname/Rhaella) - same as above, but has an ASOIAF reference Elsie - i would have considered [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] if frozen wasnāt that popular
Out of all your choices, I think [name_f]Gia[/name_f] is the best:)
I love [name_f]Gia[/name_f] and I donāt think itās too much of a stretch - I believe [name_f]Gia[/name_f] could work as a nickname for any name starting with (or even containing a prominent) G. [name_f]Gia[/name_f] is sweet and spicy at the same time, and certainly peps up [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] is so pretty for a nn. I met a young woman who only goes by [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], no nn, so maybe you could always call her by her full name and it would stick.
I donāt see why you couldnāt just have her go by [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]⦠the only problem would be if she grew up and wanted to be called [name_u]Gabby[/name_u], haha
I voted for [name_f]Bri[/name_f]/[name_f]Bree[/name_f], but I personally love the spelling [name_f]Brie[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Gia[/name_f] is too much of a stretch; the way it looks fits really well, but the hard ādzā sound of the G in [name_f]Gia[/name_f] isnāt in [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] at all, which bothers me.
I just think it could be problematic later on to use nicknames like [name_u]Abby[/name_u] or [name_u]Allie[/name_u] that are 99% of the time only used for a specific name ([name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_u]Allison[/name_u], in these cases). Nothing major, but it sounds like a lifetime of having the wrong full name written on things for the kid, which is a minor inconvenience.
[name_f]Gigi[/name_f], belle, gia, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] are all great in my opinion for [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]. I agree with you on gabby, and donāt care for the cheese reference at all, itās all I would think of if someone said bree!
If youāre concerned about popularity you probably shouldnāt have [name_u]Abby[/name_u] on the list (take it from a girl named [name_u]Abby[/name_u], everyone has a female relative of some sort named [name_u]Abby[/name_u]). My favorite nicknames are [name_f]Bree[/name_f]/[name_f]Brielle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], and [name_f]Gia[/name_f].
