[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] has always been on my long list, but recently DH expressed interest in the name and it’s made me like it a bit more.
The only thing that steers me away from it is the nicknames [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and [name_f]Dora[/name_f].
Can anyone think of some other unusual nicknames for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]?

I actually really like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but don’t think it would go over well with family lol… We had a dog for several years named [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
I once had a student named [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] who went by [name_u]Isa[/name_u] (ee-suh). I also love the previous poster’s suggestion of [name_f]Ida[/name_f].
Also, perhaps [name_f]Dori[/name_f]/[name_u]Dory[/name_u], [name_f]Doris[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_u]Ira[/name_u], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], or [name_f]Roda[/name_f]?
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]! One of my all-time favorites. I would use the nicknames [name_u]Issa[/name_u] or [name_u]Issy[/name_u] (rhyming with sissy, and not pronounced like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]…which for some reason I don’t like at all. I like it pronounced with the s sound). [name_f]Dori[/name_f] is also adorable.
You might know this already, but the meaning of [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is “Gift of [name_f]Isis[/name_f],” which is the main reason I’m not sure if I would use the name, even though the terrorist group doesn’t refer to itself as [name_f]ISIS[/name_f]. It bothers me because I love the name so much, but the meaning ruins it a bit for me. It might not be a big deal for others though, as the name is gorgeous.
Edited to add that obviously the meaning of the name is referring to the goddess Isis, and not the group. It’s just the association I would try to avoid!
