I just made a new friend whose name is [name]Marshall[/name]. He doesn’t go by any nicknames, but it got me thinking…Are there any shortened versions or common nicknames for this name? [name]Just[/name] curious!

[name]Marsh[/name] was my first idea. It seems most intuitive, but it doesn’t seem very masculine or cool to me. [name]Mars[/name] was my next idea, which IS cool and masculine, but that seems over-the-top and a bit much to live up to. I can’t really think of anything else that would really work…
I know an 11 year old [name]Marshall[/name] who goes by [name]Mars[/name], and a 26 year old who goes by [name]Marsh[/name]. The former is much more fun, and, after the novelty wears off, is the perfect name for this kid. His unfortunate sister is saddled with Pinot (seriously), which doesn’t roll quite as well.
I can’t think of any nn of the top of my head that haven’t been said already, but I will say the name [name]Marshall[/name] itself has grown on me thanks to [name]How[/name] I Met Your Mother; before that I had only known one [name]Marshall[/name], and he was kind of a weirdo. Now I think of the name as being attached to a lovable, huggable, all around good guy.
I don’t think [name]Marshall[/name] needs a nickname, but I agree that [name]Mars[/name] is a cool one. The [name]Marshall[/name] I know just goes by [name]Marshall[/name].
Sorry this thread is so old, but I was using search button. I thought if I could name my son [name]Marshall[/name] I would end up calling him Marshmallow as a nickname. Hopefully no one would call a boy named [name]Marshall[/name] [name]Marsha[/name] instead.
