We are still trying to figure out which boy name we like most. [name]One[/name] thing holding me back from a family name -[name]Mathias[/name]- is lack of nicknames, besides the obvious [name]Matt[/name]. Any suggestions?
[name]Math[/name]?
I can see [name]Max[/name] with an X in the middle name - [name]Mathias[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] or [name]Mathias[/name] [name]Alexander[/name].
[name]Massey[/name].
It’s a medieval nickname for [name]Matthew[/name], but I think it works wonders for [name]Mathias[/name] as well.
I never liked [name]Matthew[/name] until I discovered [name]Massey[/name].
[name]Massey[/name] is awesome ^^
I like Thias and [name]Massey[/name] and [name]Math[/name] too! Middle name would be [name]David[/name] after hubby’s dad otherwise [name]Max[/name] would be a cute option.
Lexiem, does Matze sound like [name]Matt[/name]-zee or Mot-see. Sorry I can’t figure it out
We’d pronounce the name with the th sound instead of a hard t sound so T wouldn’t work as well for us.
Thanks so much everyone. [name]Mathias[/name] stays on the list
I’m glad it’s staying on your list! It’s a great name! [name]One[/name] thought, I might spell it [name]Matthias[/name]. I just like the look of it better. [name]Just[/name] personal preference though!
Thanks [name]Sunshine[/name]! My grandpa’s grandfather was [name]Mathias[/name], spelled that way, and the one who came over from Germany years ago. I do like double Ts but it lends itself to [name]Matt[/name] easier that way…and I like to keep with how he spelled it
Matze probably sounds more like Mah-tze. (Think sort of like Matzah balls, but not. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Or still am not I’m not really great with spelling out sounds, esp in a different language.)
