Hey berries! We’re in the final countdown until the birth of our baby girl. We’re pretty sure we’ve nailed our top 2 names, but the name [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] keeps coming back for me. I love the name but struggle to find a nickname I like, as I’m not a fan of [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. Any suggestions? Is [name_f]Millie[/name_f] a viable nickname?

How about [name_f]Tilda[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] just no nickname at all? [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] was our other option for our daughter and whilst I quite like [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], I didn’t want it to be her default name and intended to call her [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] predominantly. But if you really do want one [name_f]Millie[/name_f], although not the most intuitive nickname for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], could work. There’s also [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] of course.

The [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] I know goes by multiple nicknames. People call her [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is definitely usable imo
[name_f]Tilda[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Millie[/name_f] totally works and would be my first choice in nicknames for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. There’s also [name_u]Mattie[/name_u].
I could see [name_f]Millie[/name_f] working. There’s also [name_u]Mattie[/name_u], [name_f]Maud[/name_f]/Maudie, and [name_f]Tilda[/name_f].

Some friends of mine had the same issue when naming their little one [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. She ended up calling herself Tidda and now that’s her nn

Millie is totally doable! I also like [name_u]Mattie[/name_u], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is definitely a viable option! Tils could be a cute alternative to [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. I second what others have said with [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] and [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]. We have [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] on our list, and I like the idea of calling her MJ. I also feel like a lot of people fall into a nickname that has nothing to do with their given name, so if [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is a strong enough contender on its own, she might end up with another nickname that sticks as she gets bigger.
