I have a friend called Trisden and he goes by Teddy (his mn is Charles and his middle name begins with G) so my question is whether or not Teddy could also be a nickname for Tristan or not.
Other than that, can I have nicknames for Tristan and they can be a stretch or not (like my little sister calls me Tri, like Tree, Ris and TinTin).
Well, anything can be a nickname for anything. I know people whose nicknames sound nothing like their given name, except for a letter or two.
Does Teddy feel like a natural nickname for Tristan? Not really, not to me at least. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use it! Just that you’d have to explain it.
Tris is the most obvious nickname for Tristan imo. Maybe Ty? Tanner even? True is another one that’s unexpected but works.

Thanks a lot. [name_u]True[/name_u] is really good and I hadn’t thought about that. Thanks for the comment on how it could be used as a nickname (I get scared sometimes that I couldn’t do things like that because I’m changing my name to it, it’s silly but the assurance helps)
tristan “teddy” could definitely work, I think, although it’s not really intuitive
other ideas:
tris
ty
tru
tri
stan

I guess [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] could work - it wouldn’t be my obvious choice but it wouldn’t surprise me either.
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] nn…
[name_m]Tan[/name_m]
[name_u]Tanner[/name_u]
[name_m]Stan[/name_m]

[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] would be fine… for me [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is a pretty universal nickname that could go with a lot of names, and certainly something starting with T. Also, [name_m]Ted[/name_m], [name_m]Tip[/name_m].
