Nicknames for Twins Deborah and Victoria

We just found out our twins (due in [name_f]April[/name_f]) are girls! We are thinking we want to use [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], because they’re both family names for both of us. His mother is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and his paternal grandmother is [name_f]Debra[/name_f]. My mother is [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] and maternal grandmother is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. We like the Hebrew spelling better

We know nicknames are going to happen, especially since both names are “old lady names.” We don’t like [name_f]Tori[/name_f] or [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. We are thinking [name_f]Toya[/name_f] (what my grandmother goes by), [name_u]Rory[/name_u], or [name_f]Ria[/name_f]. Are there any other creative nicknames for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]?

For [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], we really don’t like [name_f]Deb[/name_f]. Both of our family members go by [name_f]Debbie[/name_f], so we don’t want to use that as a nickname either. Are there any others for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]?

As I was typing this, I thought maybe [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]? I know it’s a stretch, but there is that R sound at the end?

Also wanted to add that we will normally call them [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], but we know nicknames are inevitable, and we kind of want to steer them ourselves.

I was thinking for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. Its cute and though not obvious, if you call her that others will follow. I think it’s adorable if you can have the meaning of her name be her nickname.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]- [name_f]Vera[/name_f], *Vivi
[name_f]Deborah[/name_f]- [name_f]Ebba[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Bee[/name_f]! It’d be extra special for me, since a lot of my mom’s high school friends call her B. Her maiden name starts with B and there were 8 Deborahs in her class.

I like [name_f]Bee[/name_f]! It would be extra special for me, since my mom’s high school friends call her “B.” Her maiden name starts with B, and all 7 of the Deborahs in her class went by their last initial.

What great names for your twins!

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Toya[/name_f] works, also [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] and [name_f]Ria[/name_f]. [name_f]Vika[/name_f], [name_f]Vita[/name_f].
[name_f]Deborah[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Bee[/name_f] for this, and yes I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] also works well for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]. [name_f]Dee[/name_f], [name_f]Dede[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Dora[/name_f].

Warmest congratulations, @middlewest. Excited for you!

[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest …

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] {and} [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]:

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], nickname: “bee,” and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f], nickname: “honey”

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are stylistically equivalent as “core classic” names fit for a queen.

[name_f]Deborah[/name_f] and [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] are stylistically equivalent as top-12 and top-10 names in 1955 and 1953 – the years they were most popular in the United States – and as names meaning “bee” and “honey.”

What about [name_f]Via[/name_f] & [name_f]Dee[/name_f]?

I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Bree[/name_f] is cute

There have been so many great suggestions; I can’t think of any to add apart from the set Vee/[name_f]Vi[/name_f] and [name_f]Dee[/name_f] (only while they’re little of course) - just think it’d be so precious.

Sets using previous suggestions:
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Vita[/name_f] and [name_f]Ebba[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Dora[/name_f]
[name_f]Toya[/name_f] and [name_f]Orah[/name_f]
[name_f]Ria[/name_f] and [name_f]Dede[/name_f]

My first thought for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] was [name_u]Bo[/name_u]

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]: [name_f]Tori[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]

My favourite nickname for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is definitely [name_f]Vita[/name_f].

As for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is really cute and not too much of a stretch, but [name_u]Bo[/name_u] also came to mind.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] -[name_f]Vivi[/name_f], [name_f]Vika[/name_f] (Veeka), [name_f]Vita[/name_f], Vee, [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Ria[/name_f]. (I don’t love [name_f]Toya[/name_f] - maybe the “toy” part, as in to toy with someone, is getting to me. Would go for [name_f]Tori[/name_f] over [name_f]Toya[/name_f].)

[name_f]Deborah[/name_f] - [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_f]DeeDee[/name_f], [name_f]Norah[/name_f], [name_f]Orah[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f]. [name_f]Doe[/name_f].

I quite like the suggestion of matching the names stylistically ([name_u]Royal[/name_u] first + [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Boomer middle) but as a twin would advise that you make sure each kid gets one honour name. So, using above egs, [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]. But, I do think [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] work as a twin set: two pretty but sturdy not super trendy 3 syllable names (and the added meaning)!

I love [name_f]Bee[/name_f] for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] too!

In a similar vein, how about [name_f]Plum[/name_f] for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]? It’s a fairly well-established quirky nickname here in the UK, after the [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] plum. Journalist [name_f]Plum[/name_f] Sykes was born [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], for example.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], [name_f]Plum[/name_f] and [name_f]Bee[/name_f] would be adorable!

If you really don’t like [name_f]Deb[/name_f] or [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] or [name_f]Tori[/name_f] you might want to think carefully about using [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], as random people always shorten names to what they want regardless of what you say! It’s very frustrating! A lot of these gorgeous nicknames still work as firsts and can still be honor names? But maybe that doesn’t bother you enough to turn you off the names.
Anyway, side note I’d like to mention the name [name_f]Devorah[/name_f]… it’s so beautiful.
Also [name_f]Dee[/name_f] and Vee.

My first name has a very common nickname that I hate. I grew up with my family calling me that, but once I realized I didn’t like it, I started correcting people. Hopefully, my daughters will do the same, even if it means they end up liking [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_f]Deb[/name_f].

We also don’t want to do [name_f]Dee[/name_f] and Vee because 1.) we don’t like the matchy sound, 2.) I have a cousin ([name_f]Danika[/name_f]) who goes by [name_f]Dee[/name_f], 3.) [name_u]Flip[/name_u] those around and you get VD. Kids are cruel.

I love this idea! DH likes [name_f]Bee[/name_f] but isn’t sold on [name_f]Plum[/name_f], though.

Beautiful names! Congratulations! Nicknames are my favorite part of naming! Both of my girls have several nicknames and it seems like every person in my family has a different nickname for them! I am squarely in the category that you can call your kid whatever it is that you want, whether it’s a “legitimate” nickname or not.

[name_f]Deborah[/name_f]: [name_f]Deb[/name_f], [name_f]Debbie[/name_f], [name_f]Dee[/name_f], [name_f]DeeDee[/name_f], [name_f]Dorah[/name_f], [name_f]Dorie[/name_f], Dobbie, [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_f]Bora[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Robbie[/name_u], [name_f]Roba[/name_f], [name_f]Robee[/name_f], [name_f]Reba[/name_f], Rorah

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]: [name_u]Vic[/name_u], [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], Vite, [name_f]Vita[/name_f], [name_f]Vira[/name_f], [name_m]Viro[/name_m], [name_f]Via[/name_f], [name_f]Torie[/name_f], [name_u]Tora[/name_u], [name_f]Toria[/name_f], Tiv, Tivvie, [name_f]Rita[/name_f], [name_f]Ria[/name_f], [name_f]Riva[/name_f], Rivvie, Riv, [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Corie[/name_f], Covie, Cotie, Cova, Cota, [name_f]Cira[/name_f], Coria, Covia

I know a [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], she goes by [name_f]Ora[/name_f]/[name_u]Orie[/name_u]…and she’s 5! The only [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]'s I know go the [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]/[name_f]Tori[/name_f] route.
But still, great names to be able to transition from age to age!

As w/many others, my first thought for a nn for [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] was [name_f]Bee[/name_f]…from there it was a short step to [name_f]Honey[/name_f] as a nn.

If you went w/[name_f]Devorah[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] seems intuitive as a nn…maybe also [name_u]Devi[/name_u]?

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] could also be [name_f]Vivi[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Ria[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Cori[/name_f] too much of a stretch?
