[name_m]Vladi[/name_m] & [name_m]Vova[/name_m] are nice nicknames for [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m]!
I really like [name_m]Vova[/name_m].
[name_m]Vladi[/name_m] for sure!
I like that [name_m]Vova[/name_m] is a traditional nickname for [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m], but I think it depends on how it’s pronounced and where you live. To my ear (which is totally untrained in Russian pronunciation), it sounds very close to part of the female anatomy. I’m sure this wouldn’t be a problem in [name_f]Russia[/name_f], though.
What about [name_m]Dima[/name_m] (dee-ma)? I knew a boy named [name_m]Dima[/name_m] in elementary school, not short for anything, but it would work as a nickname for [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m]. I guess [name_m]Dima[/name_m] might sound a bit feminine to some people, but he was a pretty stereotypically masculine guy (though with long hair) and wore it well.
[name_m]Vladi[/name_m] and [name_m]Vova[/name_m] are nice! My first idea was [name_m]Lad[/name_m]/[name_m]Laddy[/name_m], although I’m not sure how much he’d want to be that growing up? I think Miro is also a really great nn, a bit of a stretch, but still lovely. (Or Mimo? Apparently Mimo’s a traditional Spanish nn for [name_m]Maximo[/name_m], but I think it could work for [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m], too…)
I have to say I think Miro is my favorite, though.
Good luck!
Seconding [name_m]Dima[/name_m].
Lets be honest – here’s the names that people will call him - not Vova or Dima
They’re going to call him:
sadamir
vlada-queer
sad-a--tear
nad-a-mir
vlad-a-weird
vlad-the-queer
I think [name_m]Vladi[/name_m] is sweet for a child, but honestly on an adult I think [name_m]Vlad[/name_m] is much more likely. (So maybe just prepare yourself that he may want a less “cutsie” NN later in life.) [name_m]Dima[/name_m] is nice, but sounds too feminine to me.
[name_u]Val[/name_u] could work too.
Any of these would be nice and work well, but I just want to say that I actually think [name_m]Vlad[/name_m] will be a really sexy name for him to grow into! I briefly had a thing with a [name_m]Vlad[/name_m], and I thought it was a hot, strong name, lol. But [name_m]Vladi[/name_m] could be cute while he’s a boy.
What about Vlado? A bit less cutesy than [name_m]Vladi[/name_m], but still not [name_m]Vlad[/name_m].
This thread is kinda old but [name_m]Volodya[/name_m] is another traditional nickname for [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m].
