I have on my list:
[name_f]Thalia[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]- [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Odelia[/name_f]- [name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]- [name_f]Mira[/name_f]
And I guess [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]- [name_u]Bo[/name_u]
I prefer obvious nns, but it is fun to come up with nns based on the middles too.
[name_f]Jenna[/name_f] [name_m]Bush[/name_m] named her daughter [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and the baby goes by [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
This is a great question. I’ve been contemplating this a lot lately. I’m being induced Thursday and little boy will be [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]. Any suggestions on how to combine the two for a nn? Hubby loves [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] and our son loves [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and I’d like to incorporate the two together for a nn if possible.
From my signature, my top names:
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] nn Savvy
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] nn [name_m]Sol[/name_m]
[name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] nn Maze, Mazzy
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Holly[/name_f] nn [name_u]Rio[/name_u]
Generally, I take the first syllable/letter of FN and first syllable/letter of MN and combine them. For me that makes it phonetically close enough to the original to actually hear the connection b/t nn and full name.
[name_f]Lalita[/name_f] Freyja / [name_f]Lalita[/name_f] [name_u]Echo[/name_u] Freyja is one of my top three combos, with nickname [name_f]Lilja[/name_f] (or [name_f]Lilo[/name_f]). I’m also contemplating [name_f]Anja[/name_f] for [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Lilja[/name_f].
My favorite is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Hestia[/name_f] - “Nest” also [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Miela - “[name_u]Romy[/name_u]”
I’ve also toyed with [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_f]Ciel[/name_f] - “[name_f]Bessie[/name_f]” because [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] is y g’mas name
And [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Olivine[/name_f] - “[name_f]Molly[/name_f].” I know [name_f]Molly[/name_f] works for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] anyway but this feels more intuitive.
For a boy
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_m]Teague[/name_m] - “[name_m]Monte[/name_m]” or [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] - “Mojo”
Not directly related, unconventional nn’s from parts of names
My initials spell T.A.L and my friends nicknamed me [name_u]Tally[/name_u] at school to differentiate between the other [name_f]Tara[/name_f]'s ([name_f]Tara[/name_f] and Taz)
The only example I have is:
[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Vinson[/name_m]/[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] S_____ for [name_m]Alvis/name_m or even [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] from the first and middle. It’s the only name I have really tossed around, I know someone used here daughters initials to get to the nickname [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Sorry I can’t be of my help.
I had [name_m]Jethro[/name_m] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] nn [name_u]Jem[/name_u] on my list for a while - I love nn [name_u]Jem[/name_u], but I can’t use [name_u]James[/name_u] and I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]/[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] - but I felt it was too much of a stretch. I think nicknames should be intuitive, or they will not be used - unless it’s a family-only pet name, which can be pretty much anything you want x
I use 2 middles, so even more to play with. I don’t love all of these, but I’ve tired to include all the possibilities I can think of. They’re all from my list (I’m not sure how you’ll like them). I like to adapt the nickname to how the full name’s spelt, so some of the nns have odd spellings.
