Nimue

Nimue…

How would you pronounce it?

And do you think it works as a gender neutral name?

I pronounce it Ne-moo-ay
I don’t think it works as male name or gender neutral, it got lot of vowels in such a short name. I get it may be very unusual, but I think it would be instantly clear it’s girls name.

I pronounce it Ni (like it)-muh-way. I’d assume it was female. I only know of the Once Upon a Time character who was a girl

I say nim-oo-ay, but I have no clue if that’s correct. I guess it could work as gender neutral, but it does definitely feel more feminine to me.

I think it’s pronounced NIM-oo-ay. [name_f]Nimue[/name_f] is a female figure from the Arthurian [name_u]Legend[/name_u], so I’m unsure how it’d work on a boy.

I say it NIH-moo-ay. I see it as feminine personally

I love this name! I actually pronounce it with closer to two syllables than three: “nihm-whey”

Nim-u-ay ( UK) I would expect it more for a girl but I guess it could work for both

It could be gender neutral and I pronounce it as Nee-moo.

I really love the name [name_f]Nimue[/name_f]! The actual pronunciation is [name_f]Nim[/name_f]-oo-way though I pronounce it [name_f]Nim[/name_f]-yu-uh. [name_f]Nimue[/name_f] means “[name_f]Lady[/name_f] of the [name_u]Lake[/name_u]” from Arthurian [name_u]Legend[/name_u], so I’d assume girl.

I pronounce it [name_f]Nim[/name_f]-way and I would personally say it was feminine based off the legend but I guess it could go neutral.

I pronounce it [name_f]Nim[/name_f]-oo-ay. It’s actually my cat’s name. We call her Nimmy.

For me, it’s strongly feminine. I’ve also experienced spelling and pronunciation issues with it, mostly at the vet. I know it’s just my cat, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
